Me and my family have spent many nights in Thornton Lodge (Blackpool) and have never had a bad word to say about the service and food. However, we went in on Friday the 13th of May 2011 and after deciding to stop in the bar area for a drink before our evening meal with our 6 year old son, we were quickly told to leave the bar area by the barmaid as they were not licensed to have children in the bar area.
On many occasions previously, we have sat in the bar area with our 6 year old and 5 year old whist we wait for a table or before we eat and have never been asked to move or sit somewhere else. We have even been seasted there by staff whilst we await a table.
There are no signs on view in the bar area to advise that children are not allowed in that area. We were extremley embarrassed by the barmaids actions and subsequently had one drink and left to eat at the River Wyre.
I feel like that after viewing the website that states this Public House is 'Children Friendly', I would like a full explanation as to why there is no signage in the bar area and also why we have been seated there by staff in the past to wait for a table if you have no license???
We will not be eating in your establishment again and will advise our family and friends to not go there as well, unless there is a sufficient explanation.
Please explain?
