Thrifty Cars, not the rental company, in Clearwater must be put in the spotlight for terrible service to its customers.
I was asked to leave my vehicle( my only vehicle ) for maintenance under dealer warranty. I was told that the mechanic will see my vehicle that day and fix the starter problem and transmission leak.
I called at 4 pm and the car had not been looked at. I called at 6 pm and I was told that they were too busy and the car will have to be looked at the next day. I explained my situation and more or less was told the same thing, but I was told that my vehicle will be looked at in the morning. I called the following morning and could not reach the managers as they were out of the building. I called at 3 pm, still could not reach one manager or sales person, but they took a message and number. I had my sister take me to the dealer and I found out it had not been looked at. I was outraged. I had taken two days off work for the problem to be fixed. I was assurred by the main salesman that they will fix the problem tommorrow and call me first thing. I waited until 1 pm without a phone call and finally called myself. I spoke to a guy named Dan who informed me that nobody told him about the vehicle and he would have to speak to his main sales manager. The vehicle was finally seen by the mechanic and it took him 30 minutes to tell me that he could only fix it for a short period and needed to have another dealership fix the problem with new parts that he was not able to order. I missed three days of work for Thrifty Cars to tell me that they could not fix my vehicle and I needed to have it fixed somewhere else. I wish they would of just told me that they did not intend to fix my car and maybe somebody else would. I took the vehicle to another dealer and the problem was fixed in less than an hour. This was four months ago and I am still having the other dealer contact me in regards to Thrifty Cars not paying for the service and the dealer is to bill me. Horrible experience, horrible people, and horrible service.
