Terrible
I had made a reservation online and a few days later received an email with a rate much less than the original rate. I showed this to the customer service person at the desk in Orlando and was told that he would talk to the manager. The rep then came back and told me the manager said no. I then asked for the manager and he came out. I then told him about the rate (he seemed that this was the first that he heard about it) and he said " I only push orders here". To top it off, the customer service rep told me, while I was reading the agreements, to" is there a problem, just sign it already". I want to read the agreements before signing them and I found this to be terribly rude. I then called 1-800-thrifty and told them what happened and was told that they can't do anything. I asked to speak to a manager and was hung up on. I called back and asked to speak to a manager again and after 30 min of waiting Miggy then told me sorry there is nothing that can be done. I asked to speak to her manager and was told to call 1-800 334-1705 which I did and Jennifer employee number 59499 just said there's nothing she can do. I then asked to talk to her supervisor and after holding for an additional ½ hour I was transferred back to Miggy 67583 told me “my best case scenario is after I have returned the rental, maybe someone in customer service might do something for me. That is the best Thrifty can do”. I then asked to talk to her manager and was told that her manager Eugne Domingo was not available. Duane Warner was the Manager "Mike" was the rep and Miggy was the customer service supervisor. No one was helpful and due to this experience, I will reconsider ever renting from Thrifty in the future and I will let as many people I know about my experience with your company.

CHEATING
I have heard so many bad behaviors about company in regards to charging extra amounts to your customers, I have had few incidents my self (but you always have the explanation for the games you play on your clients)
The reason I am writing today is to compliant about the gas (petrol) charges, when I took the car I made sure to tell the person from Thrifty that the tank only had about 60% and not full and he stated to me that he only indeed recorded to his palm the right amount of gas (petrol), yet I put enough petrol to about 60% before returning the car, and I still was charged 88.20 Dirhams more.
If you continue with this behavior believe me you will end up losing more then gaining, please refund the amount charged to my credit card (88.20 AED) immediately or I will make a claim to all authorities local and international (including the mother company in the US) and inform all news agencies and any other media source available to me of your bad behavior.

Thrifty LAX
We were planning a holiday to Los Angeles for our family of 5 (we are from New Zealand).
I booked a Grand Jeep Cherokee (or similar) via the Thrifty website for about $59 per day, since we had a lot of luggage and this car could fit 4 suitcases according to their website. I did this 2 months in advance.
After 13 hours of flying, we arrived at LAX and caught the thrifty shuttle with all of our luggage.
However, the vehicle we booked was unavailable, and they said we offered us a Ford Escape for the same price. I was not sure how much luggage it could take, I took a look and the trunk was tiny. It could not fit our luggage.
I asked for a vehicle more like the Grand Cherokee which would fit our luggage.
They said I would have to pay an extra $300 to upgrade to their next model since I was rejecting the ford escape.
I had no choice, with 3 children and partner and all our luggage sitting on the sidewalk in the middle of the airport commerical zone we were at thrifty's mercy.
Now I'm back from holiday, I've done a little research. The Ford escape they offered to me is listed as a smaller vehicle on their website, certainly not an equivalent vehicle to the cherokee.
Also, the ford escape is only $45 per day, and they wanted me to pay the same as for the cherokee.
Basically, thrifty were forcing me to accept a free downgrade .
I am outraged by how we were treated. The staff at Thrifty LAX are incompetent money diggers. The worst way to begin a holiday in the US, encountering modern day pirates.
I've lodged a complaint with thrifty, but they say I will get no refund of the extra $300 we paid since I rejected the Ford Escape. Unbelievable.
Using this logic, thrifty can bait with really cheap offers, wait for the customer to arrive, offer a completely unsuitable car unlike the customer had booked, then force the customer to pay for an upgrade .
They would never get away with such behaviour in New Zealand as we have some of the strongst consumer protection laws in the world.
Is there anyway I can take this further?

Over charge
Dear sir:
My name is Augusto Freitas de Sousa and I am Portuguese citizen.
I traveled along with my wife on holiday to Australia in late May for about a month.
I have to make a complaint regarding a service provided by Sydney Thrifty.
Have every reason to believe they charged me more money in the rental car I made.
There will be some entity to whom I can complain?
I suppose I can assume that tourists will have the right to complain if they consider wrong.
Thanks for the help

pick again
lousy experience.
waited for an employee to finish a personal call on his cell phone before i could pick up the car. needed road-side assistance, which i was told at the time of the call, was to be covered by thrifty. upon rental return, road-side assistance insurance had been added to my bill. this effectively reimbursed me 50% of my road-side cost. additionally, it took several calls before the refund was processed. thrifty, it seems, had a problem w/ the receipt i was given by the cab company that they sent for me.
i would look elsewhere for a rental car company.

Crooks
Long story short- credit cards, electronics, and other items stolen from back of rental car in thrifty secure lot. Theif tried getting cash at two casinos. Police determined that security cameras in thrifty garage were not working...surprise! Almost a week later and no property or help in any way from thrifty. One fellow renter was even refused service by one agent for not allowing her to explain the insurance coverages. Thrifty has rude agents, hires theives and cares nothing about protecting anything except their own ass. If you rent here dont let anything out of your site!

Deceptive sales practices
Do not rent from Thrify or Dollar Rental Cars. They will try to mislead you into buying their premium insurance by not even asking you if you want insurance. They'll just say: "you want the basic coverage?' They don't even use the word insurance. What a ripoff. When you get off a long flight and wait on their longer lines, you're not at your best and they count on that. My $165 weekly rental turned into a $440 nightmare. What a ripoff.
do not rent from thrify or sister company dollar rental cars.

Scam/Scum
My wife and I had a terrible experience at the Denver Airport Thrifty. We had booked a car through orbitz and it was to be about 120 for the couple days I needed it. I had the confirmation papers and even called before we left from Detroit to make sure they would have the car.
Well after our flight, we took the shuttle to the Thrifty and I showed them our paperwork. The guy behind the counter said Okay, and which insurance plan do you want? He gave us a middle-tier insurance program.
I then asked what the average cost of gas was in the city, to which he replied "about "$3.15" and we can guarantee your rate of only $2.99 a gallon if you purchase a full tank. - I thought about it and then declined. (I later found out that the average cost of gas there was $2.45)
I give him my card and he wants me to sign the disclaimer/contract.. I read it over and it says the cost is $350.00
I questioned him and he came up with some BS about insurance, taxes, fees. Really a bunch of bull. But we weren't left with much of an option. I asked about if they had cheaper cars I could rent. He said they do.
So I said okay, give me a sub compact and leave that insurance charge off. To which he replied, we cannot do that.
I said, why not? You just said you had smaller cars available. He responded that the computer has my name reserved with that first car we booked weeks earlier and it cannot be voided. I said, I never signed anything. He just said sorry, that is how the system works.
So I said, okay, my wife would like to rent that car then. To which he replied, "We are not taking walk-ins"
I ALMOST LOST IT. I immediately said, I need to speak to a supervisor. 5 minutes later he came back and said that he was in a meeting. I went over the whole situation again and he said we had to leave.
This pathetic rat of a human being had me pretty upset. So we walked out with no car... We walked into Advantage and I was expecting to run into the same thing. This was not the case. We received great help and were so happy with the service, I had the girl add insurance and a full tank of gas to the order so she would get commission. Even with gas and insurance, it was still 120 less than thrifty and the bogus rate.
Stay away from them.

racial preduice
Recently I went on line in need of a rental through the holidays. I looke dthrough all the sites and the cheapest rate came out to be thrifty. I called before I went over to verify car type and to see if since I was employed at the airport was there another discount I could get. when I called I was told the car type would be a sebring or similar. When I gor to the site the gentleman pulle dup my rental told me I had 2 reservations and I told him the one for the weekend to cancel. Having not ever rented in the area I didn't know that the rate was really low for the area. Not my fault anyone renting could have wen ton line and gotten the same rate. Well I was told that since I had gotten such a low rate that I would have to take a large family van. and if I wanted I could come back in every day and check to see if they had another car well, the parking lot was full of cars but I quess since I was a black female I would have to take what ever or not get a cars. or were the cars reserved for special people. When you make a reservation for a car type or a room type you expect that your reservation in honored requardless of race or price. Upon return of the vehicle I spoke with the manager who granted me all of $10.00 for having to take a bus when I rented a car.and who also told me I could talk to his boss If I wanted But, who no doubt he had already talked to before he made the huge adjustment...
