I signed up with the Thrive Internet Succsss training people and was told that I had 30 days to opt out. In the next few days, I found out that my brother here where I live had a brain tumor and would need an operation immediately.
That night I emailed the Thrive people and explained the situation and that my efforts would be devoted to family matters. They were VERY rude and said that I couldn't "opt out". Even when I told them that I was within the 30 days, they wouldn't budge.
A family lawyer got involved, pro bono, and managed to get $7, 000 refunded to my credit card. However, I still owe them the $8, 000 and as I am unemployed, have no way of paying it back. But they don't deserve it. All I did in their program was watch a few videos at the beginning, which were no help to me in making money.
I have been advised that the Utah state government is aware of this scam and that I should file this complaint. Please advise me of the next steps.
I did more research on my own and found that the Thrive group is under a "cease and desist" order in Illinois.
I have copies of everything I sent to the Thrive group, but not scanned in to enable me to email them to you. Please let me know of a fax number, and I will happily fax it to you.
Thank you.
