I'm A Fidelis, a foreigner in Delhi. I may not be the latest victim of this so-called networking institute but my case is still on. I don't even know where to start my complain about TNS Institute of Information Technology (TIIT). I'll try not to make it too long but clear and understandable.
I contacted TIIT in about the month of October 2008 to enquire their programmes & courses on offer. I was told just what you will expect to here from a business person expecting to sell no matter what. That I did not realise till sometime later and while I'm here in Delhi. "It would be a BootCamp, 'hands-on deck' training, cost included fare to and fro the institute, 'training materials', accommodation, food ... bla bla bla.
Here I am in Delhi in the month of April for the programme (Cisco CCNA & CCNP). On the very first day I paid the total cost of the programme of close to $4000 (USD), to last for about a month. This excluded online certification fee, of which I had already paid for the CCNA before coming. During the training, I could not get access to a single router or switch to practice on. At the end of the training period, I talk to the director and he said, "Just tell me when you want them and I'll make arrangement for them". Each time I requested, I was told they are no equipments available. I resorted practicing only on my laptop, the only thing I had.
At the end of the training period, I was told that I had to paid in R5500 (INR) as I had consumed above the limit they set for feeding, which was all arranged by them (TIIT). I had had to negotiate my way to and fro the Institute as the fare was covered in the cost anymore. That amount of rupees 5500 I did not pay immediately as I was more concerned about getting myself ready for the online certification. By the way, they were and still owe my $250 for CCNA certification. Since then, I have been doing what I can to get ready for the exam before paying them the R5500 (about $115). If I don't pay in the amount I will not be getting my CCNA voucher. that was the condition.
Since the 8th of Nov. I paid the amount R5500 and yet I have not had the voucher. When I called the director he said "tomorrow in the evening you will get it, I'll give you a call". The next time I call its "tomorrow at eleven O'clock" and so on and so forth. This time he (director would not even pick my call.
The last time I when there and ask to see the director I was directed to somebody else whom I had never met till then. He asked me to write him a mail explaining what happened as he didn’t know and give him two or so days to sort out the issue. That was since the 19th Nov. and till date I haven't had any reply.
I don't know whether there is anyone listening to me out there. 7months after I have no certificate to show for it and in a dilemma. What I have come to know is the reality of the business world. The unfortunate thing is they (TIIT) are always at the top of every Google search and there are more victim current and future. They are not there to see young Indians or anyone into a career. One of the staff confirmed this to me saying, 'I have seen so many of you kind come and didn't make it”. They will make sure you pay the required amount and also make sure you time there runs to then end as quick as possible.
I don’t know to whom to present my case, who to talk to or the procedure to follow. I have come a long way. I just want to attain my target given what I have put in.
