I took out a title loan with Title Max in Myrtle Beach, SC about 8 months ago. When the first payment came due I paid $1000 which made the next payment due in September 2010. By the time September rolled around I had moved to Florence, SC and I wanted my loan moved to the local branch. They said in order to move my loan I had to refinance, which I did. My first payment on the new loan was suppose to be due on October 15th, however on October 13th the manager of the local title max called and said that the payment was due. No one had told me that when I refinanced the loan that the date changed. I ended up making arrangements to pay on my loan on Friday, October 29th. On Thursday, October 28th I was admitted to the local ER for severe kidney stone pain. The next day which was Friday, October 29th I was admitted in to the local hospital to have emergency surgery to remove the kidney stones. I called the local Title Max branch and spoke to the manager and told her my situation she said that I would still have to have the payment in the office by the end of the day. I told her that there was no way I could get the money there. I told her that I would be able to come in to the office on Monday, November 1st and make the payment, she said that if the payment was not in the office by the end of the day on Friday, October 29th she would start the repo process. I asked her if she could explain the repo process to me and she said she could not explain it to me over the phone. I asked her if anyone else could and she told me "NO". On Saturday, October 30th while I was still recovering from surgery she called and told me that the payment had to be in the office by the end of the day on the 30th. I again told her my situation and told her that I would have the payment to them on Monday, November 1st at which time she told me that I would have to pay the entire balance. I understand that Title Max is a business but the way they are conducting themselves in very unprofessional and I will not recommend anyone to them!!!
