I purchased a five year old gelding from Tom and Keely McKee. Their ad read about anyone can ride black gelding. I e-mailed them several questions and got references. They said Magic was very well broke and safe for any level of rider. He was bombproof, beginner friendly, trained in 4-H and safe for youth. This was a horse you could just saddle up and ride anywhere without any refusal at all!! No lunging needed!!
When he arrived, he was very underweight. I let him rest for two days since it took him a few days to travel from Oklahoma to Montana. When I rode him two days later he had no steering at all and was very tense at even the walk. I tried neck reining... terrible... I tried direct reining... just as bad. When we take him up to a lope, he will buck and get very anxious!! He truely has no clue what is expected of him even at a simple walk. We have other horses on our ranch that are broke better than he is. I was looking for a kid gentle horse and expessed this in every e-mail and every time they expressed his kind and gentle well broke nature. I tried e-mailing the McKees and of course they never responded!! It's funny how when they were peddling this unbroke horse off on me, they answered faithfully every e-mail I sent to them and now no response at all!!
I asked for a full or even partial refund for their misrepresenting this horse and they did not reply at all!! This is a five year old black quarter horse gelding that I am out 2800.00 for the purchase price and another 700.00 for shipping him all the way up to Montana.
