I came across this website in passing. I was actually doing some research because I'm considering purchasing a couch and wanted to get a better understanding about the different types of leather a furniture manufacturer may use. Upon review of some of these complaints it's become quite clear that most of these problems could have been avoided.
1. If you agree to make your credit card, loan or line of credit on time in exchange for a very low interest rate (in some cases 0%), don't complain that you are being ripped out when you fail to keep your end of the bargain. The lender has set aside these special terms not because you are special and they feel you deserve it; but because you've agreed to abide by the terms of their program and pay the bill on time…Yes, the economy is bad and most people are struggling but please remember that credit is not a right, it’s a privilege…
2. Payday loans are a rip off...dugh, most short terms loans are...loan shark anyone? I don't have anything against anyone who has ever taken out a payday loan. I think it's unfair that most people who have to take them are the ones who need protection from companies that prey on the poor. Short term loans are just that though and they don't hide or sneak in their fees. It does not take a financial wizard to understand that paying back $30 per $100 borrowed bi-weekly can eventually become burdensome.
3. Companies like Ashley sell crappy furniture. I visited their stores several years ago after they entered the Dallas market. The furniture on display was cheap and poorly constructed. Guess what, I didn't buy it...I kept shopping around until I found what I wanted on sale at a more reputable store. The furniture I purchased was less expensive than the Ashley furniture and made of far better materials...
In conclusion, some of these complaints are well warranted but the majority (of the ones I've read) are simply things that could have easily been avoided using common sense and sound critical thinking…
