The short:
Tried to raise the price after purchase had been made. Twice.
Failed to honor "Low Price Guarantee and Additional 5% Discount"
The long:
12/5/10:
Purchased item (Optoma EH1020 projector) from TodaysClassroom.com at the advertised price of $1057.00.
12/06/10:
They emailed me saying it would actually be $1099, if I wasn't a school. I provided the necessary info for being school, and they (Rick Griffith) said all was good, and I could receive the advertised $1057 price.
They emailed me later that day, once again trying to raise the price. Now to $1089. I told them I didn't care for the "Bait and Switch" tactics, and how I now wished to take advantage of their prominently advertised "Low Price Guarantee and Additional 5% Discount." Another website was selling the item for $1092.41, free shipping, in stock, non-sale, non-special. It meet all the requirement for their "Low Price Guarantee and Additional 5% Discount." The discounted price would be $1027.79.
Rick stated that: "we will certainly honor our guarantee" and to repurchase the item again on thier website, because they had already refunded the first purchase. I said okay, and made the purchase again.
12/9/10:
Over the next three days, I did not receive any communication, shipping info, or credit for the discounted price, despite repeated email requests.
When I finally heard back form Rick, he now said the "Low Price Guarantee and Additional 5% Discount" did not apply (which was 100% untrue), and refunded the purchase.
I told them it was unfortunate that they would not honor their advertised prices and low price guarantees, and would inform the BBB and other review websites.
