tom's woodworking Reviews

Zamora November 5, 2009
poor service & work
Mr. Tom Nunley of Tom's Woodworking (a member of the BBB) 972.809.0627
has consistently done poor, sub-standard work with promises to make the wrongs right, and
has yet to do so. These are the items he has worked on in my home that require
corrections:

A shelf that was sloppily painted, and constructed without a complete consultation (I would
not have had 4 brackets installed on a 48" shelf. He has promised numerous times to make
this right (see the novel below of all his broken promises and lies)

He installed a light fixture in the kitchen and has yet to make the necessary touch ups
on the ceiling (he had to return another day to work on this light, as he did not wire it
up correctly the original day of installation.)

He was asked (and paid for) to staple the radiant barrier in the attic that was coming
loose. Instead he decided on his own that he would use the expensive window insulation
tape he found in my garage. The radiant barrier is not staying attached.

He installed with molly hooks a shelf in a playroom and told me that this would hold
for the purpose I wanted. It did not. It started pulling away from the sheetwork - one of the
molly bolts was broken. I did not wait for him to make this repair and hired someone else
to repair the sheetrock for $75.00.

He had been asked to replace a few sections of deck boards that needed to be either
replaced or screwed down. There are still two that he did not do.

On the "good" side, he did install a small shelf in the sewing area (that he did not charge for)
He installed door handles on a cabinet ... they are not straight. He installed a towel bar in
the laundry room, that was correctly done. He installed knobs in a closet correctly also.

He also installed a computer desk area with a shelf unit and moved the electrical connections
for the router. However, about the shelf unit ... it is not level. A book standing, placed on one
side will not stand on the other end. This unit also required a few return trips to make it acceptable
he had obvious smears and fingerprints in the paint.

You will notice in the e-mails, most of these items are not mentioned. I thought it best at the time
to work on one problem at a time. At this point in time, I would not, could not trust his word or his
work. On one of the occasions that he was to show up here on his way home, after his "promise"
to be here around 6:30 . . . which became almost 8 p.m. I reached him on his phone and he
said he decided to go home, he was tired and hungry. ... nice of him to call and let me know. That
I believe was the last time we spoke. He has never called, only e-mailed lies, just a continuation of his
untruths.

He was also going to make some items for my business and has the templates. I would like these
returned in the same condition he received them.

As you will see from the e-mails, he has done nothing, his promises are empty. I feel that I have
been more than fair and now it is my time to make good on my promise and notify the agencies
available to help protect others from using his services to be cheated and disrespected.

Hi Tom,
Hope that all is going well and that you had a nice holiday.

Where are you in getting this shelf done? Have you been able to work
on any of the items we talked about? Lamp - Bones - Business Card Holder
etc?????

I am still trying to catch up from my tools getting stolen. I will be getting to your shelf asap. I will call you as soon as I get to it.

As far as the lamps and etc. I will bring you the templates when I bring the shelve. I am putting my business on hold for now untill I get the funds to replace my tools.

I wish things were better and business is thriving. It's not, I have never been in this situation and am not really sure what to do. Right now my plan is to keep working and replace the necessary tools to continue working for myself.

I am sorry I haven't called to explain my situation and let you know about the projects.

Thanks,

Tom Nunley

Tom,

I appreciate your position, but I would truly love to have some
completion here. The shelf to be replaced happened prior to your
tools being stolen and you had told me at one point that all it
required was painting ... If you are not able to have this completed
yourself, maybe you could ask your brother for assistance.

I do not wish to be reimbursed, because that will not fix the
problem. I would like for this to be done correctly and soon.

Tom,

Another 9 days have passed without getting this item resolved. I would
appreciate your seeing that this is completed before much longer.
Please do whatever you need to do to have this completed by next week.
It would be good to have this properly done by Friday, July 24, 2009.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

I will be set up and running agian in sept. I can have that shelf made painted and installed in that first week. I will not be able to do it before then. Please don't think I am trying to get rid of you or blow you off. I am doing my best.

Tom,
It seems as though it is what it is ... Did your
insurance come through to replace the tools for
you? I hope so.

As the shelf has not been made I would like to discuss
in clearer detail how this will be constructed.

Thank you.

my insurance did not replace my tools, only a tool box. I will be setting up shop and getting started very soon. that shelf will be the first project going through the doors.

I am doing the best I can. I will call you when I finish making the shelf. As far as constrution of the shelf Ihave written in my folder that it is a 48 inch long 8 inch deep shelf with a support on each end.

Tom,

Your notes are correct. Just wanted to be sure that the shelf itself is 3/4"
to be supportive of the books placed on it. Thanks.

Hello Tom,

Have you been able to get on track? I would like to be able to schedule
when you will be coming. The first week in September is not a good one
for me, except for possible Friday the 4th or Tuesday the 8th.

Tom, I am glad you are terribly busy, but you have an obligation to
make right what has been paid for. I have been waiting a long time
and do not appreciate being placed on the backburner, ignored and
treated disrespectfully. I would, as I am sure you would, like to
have this completed and done with. I would expect from what you have told me
about yourself that you would have the decency to keep your
word and make this right as soon as possible.

Tom,
You obviously have no intention of taking care of your shoddy work. In light of this I will be placing
this information with Craig's List, Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau along with Linkin that
you sent me, and if there is anyone else that should hear about you, I mean that should be aware of
why not to use you, I will see that the information is passed along to them also. I am rather busy
today, so this may not be finished until later - should you have the courtesy & decency to contact
me this may all be avoided. As you probably already know, I contacted your step-brother this morning.

I am aware of all of these actions you could take and I know you have called my step brother. I will be calling you sat. and I will take care of this. I will ask you not to threaten me into doing something. I have had a very rough few months and will take care of the issue.

Tom,

Just out of curiosity, which Saturday are you going to call? This Saturday will be the
third since your last communication ...?

FYI I will not be available until the first of November.
I would appreciate your making whatever arrangements you need to make to have this finished
right after that. I have been much, much more than patient with you - you need to make
a SERIOUS attempt to correct and complete.

I will not threaten you into doing something you should do, I only promise to do whatever is
necessary to get you to take responsibility and do it in a more timely manner. You have been
unjustly inconsiderate to me on more than one occasion. I do not deserve this and you
know it. Your "rough months", have nothing to do with your keeping your word.

Pam
