Customer service
I purcashed a Tosiba LCD 55 inch on March 16th, Within 20 days the Tv would not turn on. I notified Best Buy since it was less than 30 days and was offered an exchange for a new one. However it would be a week before I can receive it cause it would have to be ordered. a week later it was delivered and set up tested, about 4-5 hours later the picture was lost and all I had was sound. I called Best Buy and was told to contact their Geek sqaud. The Rep. told me that they woul have to make an appointment to send a repair tect to my house. I felt that I did not want a Tv New that had to be repaired. So I returned it to the store for a refund inorder to purcase an other Tv from some one else. When I arrived at the store and was proccessing the refund an other female employee at customer service made a comment " there proberly nothing wrong with it, we will just place it back on the floor". This told me that she was calling me a lier. I will never do business with Best Buy again nor will I ever purchase a Toshiba product again.

would not honor warranty for laptop
My son bought a toshiba laptop on 09/15/2010. within two weeks we had to go to fry's electric which was okayed by toshiba to fix the laptop because it would overheat, and fry's fixed it. About 6 weeks ago my son called me from school asking me to send his laptop to him, I got his mother to take to him. needless to say the laptop started to overheat again, so my son mailed it back home. I called toshiba about the problem and the warranty. Toshiba says take to fry's, I did, fry's says we can't touch it is toshibas product. So, I called toshiba and tell them this and they says fax them a copy of the warrnaty, I did. then toshiba calls back said they could not honor the warranty or give a refund on the warranty this still in effect this year but I can't get the laptop fixed or replace on toshiba warranty. Customers beware do not, do not buy any toshiba products. Go online and investigate before you buy. Be very careful because if you have aproblem with product toshiba will be there to help you and will lose your money and product. A SCREWED TOSHIBA COSTUMER

Stay away from Toshiba
I bought my Toshiba 3010 Dynabook computer. These computers were advertised in US magazines and no caveats were issued about support for English users.
Recently I reformatted the HD and an upgraded Windows.
There are conflicts between English versions of Windows and the Dynabook 3010. Toshiba US and Canada admit they do not offer product support for these computers and so I contacted Toshiba Japan to see if they offered some minor suggestions but they suddenly stopped answering my emails for help (3rd email).
This has all the makings of a cover-up. Flood the market with a machine with design flaws and then later ignore customer requests for product support.
I paid twice the price for this computer that US consumers paid for the debugged US version released 8 months later.
The drivers from the Japanese web site don't load properly with Windows and the US drivers from Toshiba America cause problems with the sound system.
Would you want to do business with a computer manufacturer who charges a premium for a computer and then decides not to support an entire population of users?

My Toshiba laptop is a very poor product with even poorer service
I wanted to bring a problem to everyone's attention and hope that others will not get duped like me. Specifically, my complaint concerns a very poor product and total disregard for product warranties.
For everyone's reference, the product in question is the Toshiba Satellite model M30 Laptop Computer. Here's my problem:
I own an 11 month old Toshiba Satellite M30 Laptop. The hard drive just burnt out on this, a $2, 500 machine!! That was a very unexpected and disappointing experience to start with. But, an even more horrid experience awaited me.
After logging 38 calls and being lied to for 5 days straight on the availability of a spare part, I finally went to the Toshiba Service Department and I was told, "We have no hard drives in stock and cannot give you an ETA."
Just like that! The translation of such a statement is: "You are on your own, now, sucker!"
I had to take immediate action or even more financial loss leading to loss of livelihood would have ensued. The computer is an indispensable machine in my life, like it or not. The first independent computer repair shop I went to told me: "Sorry, man, but it's just a well known scam. I saw it before. Didn't you hear that Toshiba just paid out $2.1 billion for the very same thing. Their hard drives are absolute garbage. They just want you to buy a new drive. I can get one for you and install it in 1 day, but it will cost you. I deal with Toshiba New Parts. They have them over there, but never through the warranty department."
About $3, 000 later (travel back and forth out of town to college for the configuration disks, all software, loading the software, labour, intranet configuration software, new drive, data recovery under time constraints, term papers coming up, etc.) I have a new hard drive.
At the same time that I was running around, friends found out through Internet searches that Toshiba had listed my very model, as one with a defective drive installed right at the factory, when new. As a result, I came to realize that all the Toshiba "service" personnel I had talked to pretended to help me while perpetrating a scam!
Naturally, Toshiba did not inform me of that "deficiency notice" when I took the machine for IN WARRANTY service.
Now, I have a new Toshiba drive, I am out $3, 000 and I still fully expect it to burn out again. More Internet searches further revealed sites are full of lamentations from duped consumers such as I.

Office Depot Junk
Bought a Satalite laptop less than 30 days ago office depot says it has a software problem and it will cost 399.00 to repair this because i did not buy their GEEK Warrenty package and they was not the first to turn it on and check it. If that is the case then it kinda makes me think this whole Tosibia/ office depot thing is just ONE BIG SCAM, AND THE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS JUNK Keep in mind this unit is less than 30 days old neither Toshibia nor Office Depot whants to accecpt responsibility for anything other than to sell you another warranty.

Plasma Dies in 3 Years
Bought a Toshiba 50HP16 plasma TV from Costco for $2500. For that amount of money, I would assume it should have a lifespan of more than three years. The picture blacked out and am left with sound only. I already had service done to it once and had the Y & Z boards replaced for over $300 and that extended the life of it for only 5 extra months.
The warranty is only 1 year from Toshiba. I called Costco's technical support and the only thing they could do was tell me to power cycle and if that didn't work, they connected me to a Toshiba service rep. The Toshiba rep tells me to power cycle as well, but that didn't change the fact that my screen was still black. She then tells me that it may be my cable box that is causing this malfunction and that I should contact my cable company. She then gives me a number to a local TV repair service. I ask her if other customers have reported complaints regarding this TV and she assures me, "oh of course not you are the first one to have problems with this TV." Not only did she waste my time, but also wasted money on a shoddy Toshiba TV. I advise other consumers to think twice before purchasing a Toshiba product!!

TV and Laptop
Toshiba is making terrible probucts! 6 months ago I bought my daughter a toshiba laptop for college from bestbuy. It crashed they had to replace the hard drive in Dec. 2010 one week before exams and now the disk drive sounds like a helicopter! At the same time I bought her a flat screen Toshiba TV from HH Gregg for college and now it has no picture. Took it for service 2 weeks ago Jan 10, 2011 and she still has no TV. DON'T EVER BUY TOSHIBA!!!

Satellite Laptop Service
Working on customer's A215 Toshiba Satellite. First, power brick went out, had to purchase a new one. Then issues with harddrive not booting, had to purchase a new one. Then they had a BIOS password due to family issues. That worked fine for about 8 months then the password didn't work and doesn't work, but it's still asking for a password. Evidently nothing is covered under their warranty. To fix the BIOS issue (which I've cleared on several other PC's and laptops, so I'm not a newbie at this computer thing) they want $179, plus shipping and handling, and I'd have to wait a minimum (MINIMUM) of 4 weeks to get it back.
I find it unusual that in the majority of computers and laptops that if you remove the battery, the BIOS resets after a period of time. NOT Toshiba, the password is NOT stored the BIOS. What a scam! My customer would rather spend $1200 on a new laptop that deal with Toshiba. Don't blame her.

Television Sucks
Well I was looking for a direct email address for Toshiba and found this site. Now I understand why a direct complaint department doesn't exist. Look at all these complaints. My story is similar to everyone else's. I purchased a Toshiba 32AV502U television as a christmas present for my 81 year old parents. The set lasted about 1year and 2 months. The problem was the screen went from color to black and white and sometimes the volume control did not work. I contacted Toshiba "customer service" (an oxymoron) and they pretty much told me to go pound sand. I have never had this type of experience with any company I have to tell you it sucks! What sucks even more is to buy your parents a christmas gift that only lasts 14 months and then watch them go back to their 25 year old sylvania console talk about embarrassed. Thanks Toshiba.
