A gentleman came to my door tonight with the same story as all the rest-points, Europe trip and he originated from MD traveling the states. I listened to his sales pitch about purchasing books for charitable organizations and decided to go ahead and purchase one. Didn't really pay attention when he wrote out the receipt-he folded over the part with the price and I signed the other side intended for READ Foundation of Woodridge, NJ. Looked at the total of $72.00 and I wrote out a check for the amount. Thought about it for a while and decided to go on-line and check it out. Called the foundation but it was after hours. Called PCCS and waited for another teller for 30 minutes with no luck. Called the contact number for Tower of power and got a "hello" from Christie! She thanked me for my contribution. Is this a scam? Don't know! But to be on the safe side I cancelled my check. Until I can confirm it with the charity org or the PCCS and Tower of Power orgs can show me more legitimacy and professionalism I call it B.S.
