I called town Fair Tire Center in Seabrook NH and ordered a set of General Tire Altimax HP tires. I was told they would be there ready for me on Monday 4/20/09. So I came there on the day about 10:30am and learnt that the tires never arrived. That was the FIRST PROBLEM.
Well, not to waste the day completely I decided to ask about any other all-season touring/grand-touring tires they had in stock. I specifically stated I wanted “all-season” and “touring or grand-touring”.
The clerk spent some time with me explaining and recommending tires they had in my size. He highly recommended Hankook Ventus V12 Evo (k110) and I decided to trust his judgment and expertise. I had pages of tire reviews and brands, but not on Evo v12, so I had my doubts but decided to proceed.
Boy, was I wrong. When I arrived home and checked the Internet and actually called Hankook company I was told that those tires are summer-only and Ultra-High Performance (UHP) tires. Well, your employee was wrong not on one but TWO positions and gave me a complete wrong recommendation. Moreover, if I trusted him and did not check I’d have no idea that those tires are dangerous in sub-freezing temperatures because of the summer rubber compound. SECOND PROBLEM.
Did I mention that they have dome mounting and balancing work by 2:30pm, i.e I spent 4 hours for what was promised to be a 90 minute job? THIRD PROBLEM.
I had to take time off work the next day and had visit Danvers, MA location to have General Tire Altimax HP mounted instead of those Hankooks. And that was the FOURTH PROBLEM (wasted time, service was OK)..
Needless to say I am extremely disappointed with my experience with the company and wanted you to know this.
