Was towed here by a AAA Approved towing company. I told him I wanted to go to my mechanic and he said that this service center was very close and they can just check out the battery or the alternator as the alternator looks to have some burnt spots on it. Or my distributor. I told him that I know its just the battery. He said it would only take a few minutes and then I would know. Its just up the road.
I asked him how much was the battery at this service station and he told me it was cheap. And I would get a 10% discount. Everyone is happy with this place.
So unfortunately I took his advice because he seemed honest. Big mistake.
I arrive to the station and the owner comes out. Checks the battery and says yes its dead. How much for a new one I ask.
$139. And $45 to install it. I said "What? Can I just buy the battery?" He tells me no. He has to install it. I told him that $45 to do it when I can do it in 10 minutes is too much. Just tow me to my mechanic.
He says' Call AAA".
AAA sends another Tow Truck and they take me to my mechanic. $99 dollars and I am out the door. No problem with the distributor or alternator. I go online and find that they do this to everyone and its not right.
They are scam artists preying on stranded motorists. Do not take your car here or let the AAA Approved Tow Company take you here . You will regret it as I did. As I left I told the man with the Cowboy hat that he wasted 2 hours of my time and that his boss is a scumbag. Which he is.
