Disenrolled child, but we still have to pay
I stopped working on August 15th and my husband and I could no longer afford to pay the $80 per week for the after school service for my son. I called and spoke with the male assistant and he advised that he would let the "master" know. Well apparently he didn't because the billing company, Amerinational, continued to automatically charge $80 per week to our bank account for a service that my child was no longer using. I contacted the billing company as well as the center and they told me that "there was nothing they could do to cancel the "agreement". In the so called agreement, there was no cancellation clause and we were never verbally told that the contract could not be cancelled. Even if my son was hurt or we moved to a location far from the gym, we would still be responsible for the payments. After much discussion with the billing company they advised us to "work it our" with the "master", The "master" advised that he was not going to let us out of the contract without at least 1/2 of the money. The account balance is over $2, 000, so he yelled, "I let you out of contract, you give me 1, 000 dollar". Well, we did not feel we should pay for a service that I could no longer afford or for a service we were no longer using. The best they could do was put the contract on hold until January. Well, I still did not have a job when payment was requested and my son is glad he no longer attends the school, especially after the master called him lazy for not achieving a green belt during a test. Last week, they sent us a bill for the 2 grand. I wrote them a letter explaining that I still could not afford it due to my employment situation. They wrote back stating "we regretfully inform you that there is no provision in the agreement for cancellation due to unemployment". We are going to seek council to resolve this matter.
