This company was terrible to work with. I thought I was making a great desicion and saving a lot of money by going with Trans United, Inc. Boy was I WRONG!
When I called and spoke with the operator Clay, he advised that we could get our stuff moved on the day needed and that since we were moving from Toledo, Oh to Wixom, Mi then it would be considered a local move, so not only was the price cheaper than the rest, but also they would be able to move our items in one day. We scheduled the move for Saturday May 22nd. The movers were to call us on friday and advise us of what time they will be there saturday.
Friday the movers called my husband, they advised they would be there between 12-3p. We were a little concerned about the time, considering they were to pack our stuff and unload our stuff within the day. Also, my husband could barely understand the operator as he was some other nationality, possibily Russian? The man advised that indeed they would move our stuff in one day and everything would be fine.
Satruday we woke up and got the rest of the house ready, I had already packed the entire house, all they had to do was load the truck. We patiently waited for the movers, in hopes that they would be on the early side of the time promised. 12p came around, as well as 1p and 2p, we started to get a little bit nervous. at 3p, we still heard nothing. Mind you we also have two small children, 3 and 2 so while being nervous and waiting we also has to occuupy two young children until the movers got there. So about 3:30p we still heard nothing so I called the company. A man picked up the phone, I advised of my problem and asked him to please find out where our truck was. He said he would call me right back and hung up, he never once asked for my name, my location, my phone number, nothing. Which I thought was extremly weird, so I called right back to give my info. When I called no one answered, just a machine. I hung up, waited a few more minutes and called back again, still nothing this went on for a good hour until I gave up and left a very frustrated message.
My husband and I decided to drive up to Michigan, bring our essentials and my husband would rent a truck and move our stuff on sunday by himself. So off we went, about 6:30p, in the middle of the drive, The movers called my husband, they claimed their truck had broken down and now they were stuck in traffic on 80/90. They asked if they could show up tomorrow (sunday) at 10a to move our things, my husband agreed. We stayed that night on air matteress in the new house looking forward to our stuff the next day.
My husband left early the next day to meet the movers at 10a. He sat at the house and the movers finally showed up at 12p claiming they go lost on the way. At this point we just wanted our stuff, so we just agreed and moved on. One thing we noticed was there were only 2 movers that showed up. We have a 3bd/2bth house about 2000 sq., which I told Clay when I scheduled it. There was no way 2 movers would be able to move this house in a timely manner. As well as the fact that they also advised that they couldn't fit their semi on our street so they rented a Uhaul truck, then proceeded to pack the Uhaul and take the Uhaul to the semi down the road and unload into the semi. This took FOREVER! About 10p that night they finally finished and also advised we would not be getting our stuff once again. They said they didn't know when they would be able to deliver it. WhAT???? You don't KNOW!!! So they finally said okay, we will deliver it tues, in which the exhaustion and stess already endured on my husband, agreed. When he came back to Michigan to meet back up with me and the kids, I of course was not okay with this. Our stuff which was suppose to be here on Saturday is now not here again and they wanted me to wait 2 more days.
I called the company on Monday and tried to get a hold of Clay to tell him my frustrations and was unavailable. I also wrote him an email, describing each of the concerns and frustrations that took place. Still I heard nothing. Monday came around and I told my husband he needed to call someone and get this taken care of, nobody was wanting to talk to me and get back with me so I let him roll with the ball to see what he could get accomplished. Finally my husband was able to get a hold of someone who claimed they didn't know where our stuff was. So at this point we had not belongings, living in Michigan with 2 small chidlren and nothing to our name. I was Livid to say the least.
Monday night I went grocery shopping to try to get some kind of normalcy happening and my husband called me while I was out. It was 7p and the truck pulled in with our stuff. No notice or advance call letting us know it was on the way, they just showed up. They also showed up in a Uhaul once again with every bit of our things rather than the semi the claimed they drove up. Which neither of us every once saw this mysterious semi. Well at 7p they wanted to start unloading our items, but of couse they wanted the rest of payment before doing so. I am standing in the middle of a grocery store, with two kids and they wanted me to find a way to get $1500 out of the bank, at 7p. No way no how, the most I can get out of and ATM is $500 and that was within a 24hr period and of course they do not accept personal checks, if I would have had advanced notice I could have gone by a bank earlier that day to make sure I was prepared for their arrival. They finally decided we could pay $75 cash and use our Credit card for the rest, which made me EXTREMLY nervous but there was no way they were taking off with my stuff! So we paid them and they proceeded to unpack.
Not only was it about 8p before they began unpacking, again with only 2 movers to unpack all of our stuff, but as they were bringing stuff in I was noticing damaging occuring in the rental home. We had gauges in the wall from where they hit it, molding was tore off the floor where the wood floor met the carpet and molding off the walls where they just weren't careful. It was horrible, now I was going to have to somehow fix all these broken things in the brand new rental home as well. When we brought this to their attention they advised that the company was not responsible for damage occured during the move.
It was one of the WORST experience I have ever experienced in a move. I would advise you NEVER use this company to move, the savings of money was not worth the stress and destruction that occured. In hinds sight I would have paid double what I did just to have the move go smoothly and as least amount of stress possible. I am writing this in hopes that I can help someone else who is looking for a moving company. Trans United, inc. was HORRIBLE and I would NEVER EVER use them under any circumstances.
