We stayed at this motel a few weeks ago on our way home from the south. The reception area looked very nice and seemed well heated. The charge was $80+ for a room.
We rented a room and when we got to the room there was no heat. The man said to give it a few hours and it would get warm. Apparently none of the rooms in that motel are heated - they don't turn any heat on even in the dead of winter and it remains that way until a customer arrive to rent the room. The room was filthy and the bedding had several rips in it - I'm sure it had also been slept in many times without the bedding being washed.
We asked for our money back and they refused to give it to us. We thus spent the night sleeping on top of the bed in our clothes. I didn't even want to step on the floor without my shoes on.
The man that owns this motel is named Mr. Philip Razel. He is apparently also the owner of the Hampton Inn in Monroe so I would assume it is kept in a similar condition as the Travel Inn.
This man should not be allowed to continue running or owning this motel. He should be put out of business if this is how he is going to run a public place to stay and charge money for it.
I would be interested in knowing where this complaint goes in the end.
