Travelocity Reviews

Scammers
I made a hotel reservation through Travelocity on June 23. I had a long flight and needed to rest before my business meeting the next morning.

I walked into the hotel around 9pm. The clerk told me that they have no record of my reservation and are full tonight. I showed him the proof of my reservation through travelocity but that didn't make any difference, no record of my reservation meant they didn't hold a room for me.

I had to drive around and look for a room. I found one and had to pay almost twice as much.

The next day I called Travelocity and requested a refund plus a reimbursement of the difference I had to pay to another hotel. They refused. They also said it will take up to 30 days to credit me back!

Bad Service from start!
My husband and I booked a Cruise through Travelocity for our 10 year wedding anniversary. 9 Days before the trip way after I had gotten the tickets and confirmations, they called and said the residency we had chosen was wrong and we now owe 610.00 more dollars! That is about all we have left! We still need to pay for parking for the week and the gas to get to Maryland! So my complaint is 1.

shouldn't they of verified the state of residence before booking and taking my money? 2. Their website said choose closets city so I chose Hartford/Springfield BDL because Springfield is 45 Minutes away and Boston is 2.5 hours away! 3. Everytime I called from my CELL Phone I sat on hold forever waisting a ton of my minutes! 4. When we finally spoke to someone it was excuse after excuse! first its the cruise line that needs to change, until we called them and then called Travelocity back. Then they had another excuse! Putting us on hold MANY times and sometimes even hanging up on us after we were on hold forever!
Now if we cancle we loose 800.00 and will have no anniversary trip! and if we give them the 610.00 we will have no money for the gas to Maryland, or the parking fee for the week or money for tips or any other thing on or off the boat!
So now I am at a loose loose situation which could of all been prevented if Travelocity had verified from the start and or if their website didn't have my city under where it shouldn't be!
I will NEVER book through or work with Travelocity again in my life! I will also Tell EVERYONE I know about this and sugest they NEVER use Travelocity either!

refund
Booked flight+hotel+car for an out of town event. Event is canceled the DAY before; these things happen. Call travelocity and they tell me they can only refund about 8% of entire cost of trip. I'm not buying it. Travelocity is not a small company and I'M SURE they can afford to grant their customers a refund, minus a reasonable penalty. Not only am I upset about the cancellation of the evnt but I feel ripped off too. I will not do business with travelocity again."

"Mandatory" travel insurance added without my authorization
On May 3, 2009, I called Travelocity phone number listed on the web site to research and possibly book a 7 day cruise.

When the agent over the phone quoted me a price of $1917.74, I booked the cruise. I was told there would be an additional $19.95 service charge for the booking. When I got the confirmation email, the price charged to my credit card was $2, 135.69. Almost $200 more than I agreed.

I immediately asked the agent why there was a $200 discrepancy. I was told that this was the mandatory travel insurance. I advised the agent that under no circumstances did I want travel insurance and insisted on an instant refund. I was then placed on hold for 31 minutes. The agent came back on the phone stating that it would take 5-7 business day for the refund. As an added security measure, I sent an email complaint through the website customer service form. [Incident:090503-002835] on June 3, 2009 – the same day of this problem. I received the following reply “Your enquiry has been passed to our Sales & Customer Care Team who will strive to respond to your contact within 4 hours”.

3 days later, I received a reply from Gene K who stated the refund is pending processing.

On May 9, 2009, I did not yet receive my refund, so I emailed customer service again [Incident: 090503-002835] [Incident:090509-004098] asking where is the refund?.
The reply I received dated 5/15/09 was “Please be advised that the refund comes directly from the cruise line as they were the ones that charged your credit card initially. The refund can take 7-10 business days to appear back on your card.”

First, the original charge occurred on 5/3/09. The customer service rep should have seen that the 7-10 day time frame passed and that he should have taken the necessary steps to process the refund ASAP. Secondly, the reply stated that the refund should come from Carnival cruise line directly. I know this to be untrue. Travelocity charged my credit card, Travelocity should refund my credit card. As of May 18, 2009, the refund was not processed. At that time, I instructed my wife to resolve this matter.

After rounds and rounds of filing complaints with customer service suerpvisors, my wife was told that travel insurance was mandatory and that Carnival cruises were the ones who charged me. My wife made a three way call with Carnival and Travelocity supervisors and listened in while both supervisors argued with each other - each blaming the other for incompetence. A truely comical routine I must say. Finally the Travelocity supervisor agreed to the travel insurance refund. And on 5/21/09, the refund posted to my credit card. I am glad this happened as I will never, EVER, use Travelocity again. Furthermore, I have told all of my friends, relatives and this website of this experience in hopes to help others avoid my mistake of booking with Travelocity. Note: This formal letter was sent to the CEO of the company to advise them of their problems. IF he wont care, then who will?

BAD Customer Service
On June 9 2009. I called Travelocity to make changes on my trip package and the representative had me on the phone for 52 Mins.
After being on hold numerous times, the representative came back and told me that I could cancel my hotel reservation and get a full refund. I was happy to hear that, because due to an EMERGENCY I had to cancel my trip. The representative seemed helpful and told me that I would receive an confirmation email in 5-10 mins. 30 Mins has passed and I didn't receive anything, an hour passed still haven't receved anything. I decided to call Travelocity again to see if the cancellation went through.

The second representative put me on hold numerous time again but was able to confirm that the cancellation went through, I asked her to give me the amount of my refund, and then realized there's a difference of $70 plus of money that weren't going to be credited back to me. I asked the second representative about the difference of $70 plus and she replied "oh, that's the penalty fee". I was upset because
the first representative didn't mention anything about "penalty" fee and I even ask were there going to be any "penalty' fees.
I asked the second representative to explain what the fees were, and all she could say is "I apologize for any inconvenience" over and
over again. Its like she was reading a script. That made me even more mad.

I've read numerous complaints about Travelocity and scams. I am scared that I won't get my refund. 4 hours has passed still no confirmation email... This is my first and last time booking with Travelocity.

Incompetence Exemplified!
I tried to book a return flight through Travelocity, things went reasonably smoothly as far as paying for the flight through the website and so on. Later I got a phone message and several emails asking me to contact them regarding the flight. I called them and, after being kept on hold for nearly an hour, was then told to call another number. I spoke to some guy who told me that the flight couldn't be confirmed because the airline in question only issued paper tickets and Travelocity can't handle that. It turns out that both of these statements are untrue but more about that later.
So, I was basically told that Travelocity couldn't confirm my flight, I was not given any options or alternatives for my situation. I asked the person on the 'phone if that meant that I needed to completely rebook my flight with the airline and was vaguely told yes.
After this, I looked at my bank account and realised that Travelocity had in fact taken payment for these flights, meaning that I couldn't even book with anyone else because I didn't have the funds. I wrote Travelocity a strongly worded email complaining about this, the response to which was to ask me to call again.
I called again and spoke to someone else being given the same run-around regarding paper tickets and not being able to confirm the flight. This time I asked very pointedly and repeatedly if I needed to completely rebook my flight with the airline and was told yes.
At this point, I emailed Travelocity again and told them, that if they couldn't book the flight, then why on Earth did they still have my money? Could they either confirm the flight or return my money immediately.
I then called the airline in question (Air Canada) and was told by them that I was in fact booked on the flight and they could confirm that. However, they said that they *never* issue paper tickets and so Travelocity were making a completely bogus claim. In addition, their records show that I hadn't yet paid for the flight. So, somewhat happier in that it at least looked like I would get my flight for the price I paid, even if it took some time for Travelocity to get their act together, I checked my email. Another mail from Travelocity informing me that 'they were sorry that I had received an unfavorable impression of them in this instance' (note the distinct lack of an actual apology) and that they had cancelled my itinerary and refunded my money. I was so close!
I booked the flight on Sunday, went through most of this rigamarole over Monday and Tuesday. It is now Thursday and I still have not received my money back.
I note that the flight I tried to book myself on is still available through the Travelocity site. I would have thought that an agency that makes the guarantee ' We guarantee your booking will be right, or we'll work with our partners to make it right, right away!' would have at least tried to have modified my flight.
As it stands, Travelocity have taken my money, wasted my time, and then given me the finger. I would at least take my business elsewhere if they would only give me money back!

Refund Issues
I booked a wonderful diving vacation in Cancun with Travelocity. The day after I arrived, I had an accident and tore my rotator cuff. Needless to say, I couldn't dive. It was the second time I tore that muscle and my doctor advised me to get back home ASAP to have it looked at. So, I came home.
I filed all the appropriate notifications letters, physician reports, etc. to Travelocity in October 2008 upon my return. I have yet to get any action from them. I have called over 10 times in the past 6 months, spending typically 45 minutes per call on hold with them. Each time they give me excuses, contradiciting stories, tell me it will be another 30 days, they can't contact the hotel, etc. I have been on hold so long, that the phone has simply dosconnected. In my opinion, Travelocity is the worst form of decietful, lieing, dishonest busisness there is. What bothers me is that it's blatent and nothing is being done about it. In my opinion, these people should all be serving jail time. At the very least they should not be doing any form of business. To me, they make mortgage loan people and used car salesment look like saints!

Double charge
DO NOT USE Travelocity. I recently booked a hotel with them and was charged twice for the room and when it came time to get my money back from travelocity for one of the room charges they are only refunding a portion and said they are keeping a portion of it for a fee so they recieved the full room charge plus a portion of the duplicate charge. They are a scam.

Booked the wrong date
I had called in a while back to book a flght to New York, for April 23rd, 2009, and confirmed with the agent I had spoken to. Excited for my trip, I was busy working at the hospital to make spending cash for New York. I had not checked my email, thinking I had 2 months to my trip, and nothing to worry about. It was not till last week, that Travelocity called me and asked me why I had not showed to my flight and checked into my hotel on March 23rd. Confused and anrgy, the company told me that this was my mistake because I had not checked my email for confirmation. I was completely furious, and felt I had been scamed out of my trip. The supervisor I had spoken to told me there was nothing I could possibly do, and I could not get refunded my money, or get any sort of compensation. I have faxed a complaint as well ordered them to listen back to the recording of the conversation of the booking. Not only have I lost 1200 on my trip, but I have been shut out completely by this company. They say they care about their customers, but won't even hear me out on their own mistake. Not only will I not stop trying to get my money back, but I will make sure no one else falls prey to their scams. Overall, travelocity is a complete money stealing company that cares about no one else but themselves!
