Fraud
A woman claiming to be named Anna Lopez knocked on our door and when I opened it she barged right in. Walked in to our kitchen and asked us if she could have a beer. Really? She then proceded to show us the magazines that she was selling so that she could go on a trip to Europe. She never asked us if we wanted to buy them, just asked which one we wanted. She was very pushy and did not give us a chance to say no. She then proceeds to tell us that the subscription costs $57! That is more than shelve price for this magazine. The next day I sent in all the information to cancel the order. I still have not received my money back, or my magazine. I have called twice and both times the woman claimed to have never recieved my cancellation information.

door to door sales FRAUD!
A young man came to my door telling me he was selling magazine subscriptions for a program that helped underprivileged kids stay out of trouble and earn points to travel. He also told me that the cost for the magazine subscription was tax deductible, but that the $15 fee for processing and handling went toward their trip, so it was not tax deductible. Then, when you seem interested, they try VERY hard to get you to pay in cash, but they will accept a check. They didn't actually scam me because I was able to realize what was going on before he got away with it, but A LOT of people are buying into this. They also tug at people's heart strings by telling them that they will even send the magazines to our troops if you want. How disgusting! To use our troops as a means for personal gain! SICK!
Anyway, I called the local police department to ask what I should do and they said that ANYONE who sells anything door to door needs to have a license to do so. So the first thing you should do is ask for their license. But I am guessing if you are reading this, you have probably already given them your money and a month has gone by and you are wondering where your magazine is. But if you are like me, and you ask them to hang on while you google them, and you are reading this while the young man is still standing on your porch, ASK TO SEE HIS LICENSE TO SOLICIT!!! If he does not provide, don't act too suspicious, you do NOT want to alarm him, just chat for another minute and act like you just don't think you have the money, or left your checkbook at work, whatever. Then when he goes away, CALL THE COPS!!! This is why you don't want to alarm him. You want him to still be in your neighborhood when the cops come, so they can stop this SCAM!!!
And to everyone that got scammed, I really don't know what to tell you...sorry :(

fraud
Made a payment of 111.00 for three magazines for my husband on 11/28/09. As of this moment we have received nothing. Have tried to make contact to no avail. Tried again this evening and the message was different from before and the mailbox was full at the number given. If possible would like to receive what was ordered or get our money back. A reply would be really nice too.
