TRS Home Furnishings Reviews

Terrible experience
I received an add from TRS Home Furnishings, which was attached to the front gate of my home in Las Vegas Nevada. I called the number on the flier, 702..., and someone named “Marvin” answered the phone. I expressed the fact that I do not appreciate ads being attached to my home, garage, or front gate and do not purchase anything from companies that do this, as the ads tend to fly around our neighborhood and create litter. Before I could finish my sentence “Marvin” hung up on me. I called back and asked for a manager and it was the same “Marvin” that had hung up on me. He said he “wasn’t going to listen to me bash the way his company does business.” This is rather shocking to find out that a business does not want feedback from those they are targeting for business. I asked for the owner of the business, he told me to look it up in the Yellow pages, and hung up on me. I believe at this point I let him know that he was a jerk. I then called the other number on the ad, 702 645 5679 and explained what just transpired to the young lady on the phone. She agreed this was unacceptable, and directed me to 480 968 7570, which is their corporate office. I called this number around 11:30am and received a recording that the office was closed. The recording also explained the hours of business as 8am to 5pm. I sent an email to the eamil address on the corporate website, but it came back as undeliverable. I finally got through to someone at corporate by entering extension numbers until someone answered. It was the Human Resource manager. I told her my story and she said I would need to leave a message with customer service and they would have a District Manager call me back within 48 hours. In the meantime, I convenced her to give me a first name of the real manager at the local branch, so I called him (Ken or Keith) and he yelled at me and asked "who do you think you are calling our place of business to complain about the way we adverstise. If you don't like it throw the ad away and don't bother us." I suspect that a company who treats folks in this manner over the phone would not be much better in person when it comes to customer service. I looked them up on the BBB website and found an unsatisfactory rating, which is not surprising. This reaction from TRS Home Furnishing has definitely convinced me to never purchase product from their establishment. I don't go to their business and place garbage on their front door, and do not appreciate them coming to my home and leaving their unwanted ads = garbage on mine. These types of ads are becoming a nuisance as they blow all over the neighborhood making it look trashy. There must be some way for consumers to stop these ads from being stuck all over their personal and real property. Obviously, by this example of presenting my complaint to TRS Home Furnishings, they couldn't care less about what their targeted market thinks.

As you can guess, my first impression of TRS is not a positive one. I will not ever shop at TRS, and I will definitely NOT recommend TRS to anyone that I know.

Harassing calls
I wne tthrough a divorce and needed some furniture. I went into an Ashley store to purchase a bed. The total was $830.00 and was given credit through TRS. I put a down paymewnt of $330.00 and made payments of $130.00 a month since last May. On the week before the payments are due, they will call me and everyone on my list up to 6 times a day to tell me it is due. And then once the due date arrives the calls start at 9:00 in the morning. I have been called 6 times in a thirty minute time frame. TRS makes very rude, harassing calls to every one on my list and has been told my my supervivsor on several occasions not to call my office any more, Yet daily the calls poor in. I have paid well over the original amount and yet I am made to be a criminal to my boss and friends and family to them. I have contacted the Texas Attorney General and made a complaint against them because even if told not to call they continue to call. If anyone is planning to use them please take me as an example and do not use them. It will be a mistake on your part.

Consumers will be mislead
Ok, I will be the first to admit, I made a huge, huge mistake. My dealing with TRS started in July 2008. On the 31st of July, I went into the MOR Furniture Store in Boise, Idaho. I had a relationship with this store as I was in the process of building a new house and had purchased quite a bit of furniture from them on a cash basis. Since our cash was running low due to our building, I had some living room furniture that I wanted to purchase. Now, I had just got a $300, 000 mortgage with no problem, but for some reason, MOR turned down my credit application. (Makes you wonder what kind of kick back these stores are getting, doesn't it) Anyway, the salesman, from whom I had purchased before and somewhat trusted, says to me "well, I have a secondary finance company in house. let me refer you to them." Now when I think secondary finance, I think 29%, 32%, I have even seen it as high as 39% interest. Never in a million years would I have knowingly agreed to 115% interest. So, this very kind, luring, snake biting gentleman greets me and says hello, I am an associate of TRS. Never once did he state we are "The Rental Company" The furniture I wanted to purchase was in the clearance section as I had to be extremely frugal what my money. The total purchase was $1612.00. He says, well I have you approved for $2500.00. Your monthly payment will be two hundred and something dollars. He brought out the contract for me to sign and explained to me that the amounts that I was seeing were if I had to finance the furniture for the two year term. He stated that the more I paid and the quicker I paid this off, I actually would pay very little interest. My sister happend to be with me and we had a little baby with us who was getting quite cranky. The snake biter seemed to explain everything very thoroughly. Went into they report to the 3 credit burueas the total amount of the furniture for a two year period so if you pay it off in 3 months, your credit score increases dramatically. I thought this seemed reasonable. So, he brought out the contract and set it out on the table and somewhat laid his hand over the top part of the contract as he was explaining to me where to sign. Once signed, I paid him $450.00 down and he folded up the contracts in an envelope and sent me on my way. The next month, I paid $455.00 on the furniture bringing the amount I already paid for $900.00 already. Over the next several months, I made a payment of $300.00, $350.00, $285.00 thinking I was real ahead in this ball game. In January, I got a reminder call for my payment which was due on the 15th and I asked her what the payoff was as I wanted to send it. She stated $921.00. I thought that seemed crazy for a 6 month period since I had already paid more than the principal on the furniture. However, I made another payment. When I attempted to questioned the gentleman that reviewed the contract with me, he was no longer there of course. In February, I started getting hounded again by David, the new guy in the store. Yes, the payoff quote girl was now gone as well. I asked what the payoff was. He stated $1400. I was flabergasted and stated that I only owed $900 last month and made a $300 payment. How could I possibly owe $1400. He stated that I must have been misquoted. Now since that time, I have had many contacts with David often asking for a supervisor. He is telling me that they are not authorized to refer me to one, and they are trained to handle these situations, but not authorized to negotiate any complaints??? I asked for printout of all my payments. After the fourth request, what I received couldn't have been read nor understood by a rocket scientist. By the way, in researching their many alias's, they have had hundreds of Better Business Bureau Complaints but aren't members of the BBB? I have called TRS "The Rental Company" in Boise 7 times in the last week attempting to resolve this issue. Today is the first time that someone has answered and the phone hasn't just rang and rang and rang? Legimate business, no answering machine? Now I have no problem paying bills that I do owe, and yes I get behind like everyone else from time to time and attempt to work with my creditors to get my bills paid. I do however, have a problem with being mislead, ripped off, inaccurate quotes for payoff balances. and accounting practices that would confuse the US Treasury. I have contacted the Secretary of State, The Attorney General's Office, the Better Busienss Bureau, and am getting ready to write a complaint to the local newspaper. My sister who witness the whole conversation and signing understood everything the same way I did. I guess we are both idiots. Consumers deserve better. In addition, I asked David how he slept at night knowing they were purposely misleading people in an effort to rip them off. HIs response was "I am looking for another job as we speak".

Harassment and unauthorized transaction
BEWARE if you are in dire need or just want to buy new furniture. TRS Furnishings is actually a collection agency as described by the Better Business Bureau! Sometimes people want to buy something new because their credit is not up to par. I was given the option to pay a "90 day same as cash". I bought a sofa and loveseat and was told that one item would be credited as such with the overage I was paying (aside from the payment). The manager at that time was Hugo. Hugo would never give me an itemized statement; I had to go to the store and demand it. After speaking to him a while, he threw it in the trash can. As I walked out the doors, I returned and asked him for that print-out. Hugo said I would not understand it if I tried. Everytime I asked for my balance, Hugo said he did not know because of the way the computer's info was organized (or should I say disorganized). The furniture sale was a little over $2000 to include taxes. I was left with a $700 balance and I decided I could not make the 90 day same as cash deal. Hugo said he never told me it would be applied to one of the items. That was in about February this year. My balance to this date is $1400.00. This is after $750.00+ in payments. Someone took it upon themselves to run my credit card, so I was left owing the bank $75.00 for three returned checks. Hugo said he would credit my account and would send me a letter. Low (very low) and behold, Hugo no longer works there and neither does the girl who ran my card. The new manager (John) called and gave me credit for the month of July which I did not pay. He said to pay my August payment. When I asked what my balance was at that point, he said it was $1400.00. Wow!

Read everything that you sign! $2, 000+ on furniture plus rental fees and what they call "report your good credit to the credit bureau" fees apply each month, making your grand total after a 2 year agreement $6, 000 +.

Now the new manager JOHN is harassing me. After a conversation with him on the phone I hung up on him. No sense in arguing about the same thing over and over. John said that the constable was going to pick up my furniture after they turn my account over to their attorneys. It is my understanding that a collection agency is not to make threats like this until it actually goes to court and the judge listens to both sides of the story.

I need to see if anyone has had this type of problem with this company and how you handled it. It is awful that companies such as these can prey on people who have credit problems. Not all of us are deadbeats! Some of us go through bad divorces that leave one in a not so good situation financially. At this point, I am afraid to make a payment for fear that they will take money out of my bank; Money that is waiting to be cashed for utility bills or house payment.
