I have read, with great interest, the complaints regarding trhe Tru-Tech mp3 player problems.
I have a Tru-Tech mp3 player. It is the model T-1000
The problem which most of the complaints are about is getting a message "Back up data" format drive or "No File"
I believe that some users have attempted to delete certain mp3 files from the player using the delete function incorporated within the player itself. It is probably better practice to connect the player to the pc and delete any files in this manner.
If you format the player you will lose ALL of the files already on board and you will have to reload all of them again, so...be sure that your files are in the FOLDER which has the .DIR extension. It's the MEDIA folder. If they are NOT in this folder you will not be able to play them even if you see them listed as being resident on the player.
Let me know if this helped you!
