My husband and I had an agreement with Trugreen in 2009. At the end of the summer, we chose not to renew their services in favor of another company. Trugreen representatives called us several times over the winter months to convince us to renew services with them and each time we told them that we were cancelling their service. I repeat, WE EXPRESSED OUR DESIRE TO CANCEL THEIR SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES. I cannot stress this part enough.
In the second week of march 2010, we arrived home from work to find a notice from Trugreen hanging from our door stating that they applied fertilizer and that we owed them $60. My husband called to tell them that we cancelled their services prior to this and that we do not owe them money for the unwanted fertilizer application. The representative claimed that we did not cancel their services and that we still owed them $60. My husband told this representative, once again, that we were cancelling their services and to not come back to our house. We ended up sending them the $60 for the unwanted lawn treatment, not because they deserved it, but because we didn't want to deal with the hassle of a bill being sent to collection. I'm sure this is what they were banking on.
On top of this, their service is subpar with poor timing of fertilization and substandard weed control, which is why we chose to cancel them in the first place.
It is now the first week of April, and we just received a call from guess who...Trugreen. After charging us for a service we did not want and basically calling us liars, they had the nerve to call us again. My husband called their corporate line and told them to take us off their phone list. I'm not sure if this will get them to stop calling us. I would never recommend the use of Trugreen to any of my friends or family. In fact I will tell them to avoid them.
