Fail to respond
After having been harassed with phone solicitations, I signed up with their service to improve my lawn. Instead of improvement, it has been virtually destroyed. They fail to respond to problem.

Deceptive selling practice
In June a door knocker sold me on TG service to take care of my Crabgrass and Clover. He told me they would take care of it. Having received no noticeable decrease in either ***, I canceled the service. Their guarantee said that they would refund the last bill if I was not happy.

I have received several phone calls from them and told them each time that I was not happy and would not be paying the final bill for treatment ($23.40). They told me that their guarantee was only if I had taken the service for 6 months. Each time I was called about the bill, they said that they would have a manager call me back. They never did. They are now threatening to send me to a collections agency.

I have had their people tell me that, in order to be effective, I would have had to have started the service in March or April when they would have put down a *** barrier. They said that even if I had purchased the treatment at Home Depot, it would have taken 5 applications for the weeds to be controlled. The point is that I didn't research *** control at Home Depot, I signed up at my front door when they told me they could take care of the problem. If they had told me from the start that I wouldn't see anything unless I had a barrier treatment in March, that's when I would have started the service.

Its all about expectations. They set some and then failed to meet them. Their selling practices are deceptive. I would suggest that you follow their suggestion and go to Home Depot. Hopefully the manufacturers of the lawn treatments they sell there are honest in their product descriptions. And HD, Lowes, Ace and others will most likely stand behind their consumers if the Mfgs aren't honest.

Billing for un-authorized service
Around March 2009, I purchased/prepaid for a Lawn treatment package through Trugreen. While they were trying to sell me the package they kept on asking me to purchase more treatments, I kept on saying no, and the package would be enough. I do not need more. Today, towards the end of the season, I get a bill for $175.43 for more services rendered. I was in shock! From the time I purchased the package until today, I spoke to one sales rep from Trugreen and the only thing they asked me on the phone was: Sir may we come out to your property and do a treatment? I said is this treatment part of the package that I had paid for? He said yes! I said fine no problem. So when I called to ask about my bill, the billing person was not able to answer my question, instead she said, the bill is for treatments that you asked for that were outside the package. I said what? Why? Why would I add more treatments? She said, that is the case and you owe us. I tried reasoning with her; she did not want to hear it. So, she told me instead of the $175.43 you need to pay $138.10. Since the payment is late and I did not want them to access my credit information, I paid $139.00. Today when I called them yet again, the person said I owe $176 and change. I am going crazy. I want to file a complaint and want my $139 back! My lawn looks horrible and this is pure robbery!

Pesticide - Talstar One
TruGreen sprayed a Pesticide on my neighbor's property less than 5 feet from my German Shepherd, who was on my property behind a chain linked fence. My dog inhaled the Pesticide that was being sprayed and came in sneezing. Within 1 hour her nose began to bleed and continued for 2 months!
I reported this and the death of my cat 3 weeks prior from eating grass in the neighbor's yard after it was sprayed. The "manager" that I spoke to chuckled about the death of my cat. So I called their corporate office and then sent everything in writing to them. I gave them a deadline and when I heard nothing back I filed a complaint with Department of Agriculture. They showed up at the local TruGreen office 4 days later.
Now we wait for the report.
My next step is taking my story to the local media.
After reading the 18 pages about the chemicals they use (they sent this to my vet) I realized 2 things.
1. Their chemicals cause Cancer in several breeds of dogs.
2. They do animal testing.

These 2 things should be enough to create a Class Action suit and bury these idiots!

Rip off
Trugreen is a big huge rip off. Although they serviced my lawn they ended up letting chinch bugs, sod web worms and various weeds ruin my lawn. Now it will have to be resodded. The Trugreen in Fruitland Park, Florida is worthless. I called and got a snotty and rude branch manager that said my lawn problems were "hot spots" and and "act of God". Even though each assessment of my lawn said it had good growth and color. What Bull. A worthless business! I hope they end up BANKRUPT. I have worked and worked on a lawn that will never be the same. I am sick about it.

terrible service
I began working with TruGreen and signed up for the scheduled lawn service for the summer. Keep in mind this is supposed to be scheduled. During this time they billed me incorrectly and when each service is supposed to occur it does nbot. I have to then make numerous phone calls with each time the CSR telling me they will be there tomorrow. Guess what they are not.
For what is supposed to occur ever 30 days goes at least 45 days and results in new weeds growing. Worst part is AI have to spend multiple phoen calls to get a service I am paying for. My advise is use another company.

Billing Errors/Quality of Service/Harassement
Used TruGreen in 2007, at the end of the season all of a sudden I owed another $59 that wasn't paid during the season. I checked my records and compared them to theirs and found that I had in fact paid. Explained that to their accounting dept but no one investigated on their end. In January 2008, while I was in FL with my Father (who died of cancer that month) TruGreen kept calling my house and telling my husband we owed $59. I told him not to pay it. They called his daily until he finally paid. In 2008 season, I told my husband not to use them but he did anyway. The first bush and scrub application was made on a day that we had 15+ mile per hour winds. I hope my neighbors liked the free bush and scrub application cause it was blown all over the neighborhood. At the end of the season they called an talked my husband in to a treatment they said cost $211. What they didn't tell him was that it was $422 (oopps $211x2). When I called they blamed the mistake on my husband not their phone sales person. In 2009 after receiving the contract for the 2009 season, I called TruGreen and told them we were going with someone else and to take us off their calling/mailing list. They called once a day for the next three days and then sent us two letters dated for the same day. I guess they misunderstood me, I said DONT CALL not call and write me every day!
I was never happy with the service or the quality of the lawn for the amount of money we paid to TruGreen.

Lawn Damage
Overfertilizing and unnecessary treatment required replacement of my lawn. Unnecessary fertiziling in March 09, Jan 09 Dec 08 Nov 08 contributed to my lawn dying. They also sold me an aeration treatment that was not necessary. My lawn is primarily sandy and very porous. Aeration was a waste of money but they insisted I required the service at $125.00. Plus $45.00 a month to over fertilize.

Scam artists
Paid in full for 1 year of Trugreen service. Arrived home this year to find they sprayed my yard and left a bill for $76. I called because services were not approved and was told they are like the utility company that provides service from year to year unless cancelled. This is the first time I've used a lawn service and was not aware of this clause. They claim it was explained to me when I paid for the services the previous year, nothing was sent to remind or pay in full after the previous year. Once the services that were paid for were complete, that should have cancelled any future treatment unless paid for or acknowledged.

Salesman called me a bitch!!!
I cancelled my service with Trugreen over a year ago because my lawn looked like crap after all their "treatments". Since then, every month, they have called and tried to solicit my business. Every month, I have told them no and to stop calling me. Today was no different.

Let me set it up. The phone rang and I saw that it was Trugreen. I answered at the same time that my answering machine picked up. I told the guy to hold on while the answering machine finished it's message. The salesman gave me his pitch and I again told him that I cancelled their service and please do not call again. I hung up. On the answering machine, you hear the whole conversation. After you hear me hang up, you can hear the saleman say "bitch".

NEVER USE THIS SERVICE!

THEIR "TREATMENTS" DON'T WORK!

THEY WILL SEND YOU LATE NOTICE AFTER LATE NOTICE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE MADE YOUR PAYMENT AND PROVE TO THEM THAT YOU PAID!

THEY WILL BADGER YOU IF YOU CANCEL THEIR SERVICE!!

AND APPARENTLY, THEY DON'T MIND CALLING THEIR PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS OBSENITIES!

By the way, he knew the answering machine was still on. You can hear it.
