Never use them
This is frustrating for multiple reasons: namely, that I had to contact Turbotax to find out about my refund. They obviously knew about this issue, as there is a FAQ topic on it on their website. The ONLY saving grace was he informed me that I would not be charged for using Turbotax this year. I will NEVER use this company's products or services again.

Scam
I filed my 2010 tax return this year with Turbotax, as I have for several years past. I had expected my refund today, February 11. However, when I checked my checking account, the money was not in there. I had to check a secondary company's website, which informed me I had to contact Turbotax regarding my refund. When I called the 800 number provided, the "gentleman" on the other end of the line informed me, in no uncertain terms, that Turbotax had incorrectly filed an entire BATCH of refunds, and as a result, I would be receiving my refund via check. The "gentleman" also informed me that there was no recourse, nor was there anything that could be done on their end.

Bait and switch
I was filing 2010 taxes for my 21 year old who had under $8000 income and no deductions, property, etc. We used the free version last year for 2009. Using last year's login it automatically switched us to the Deluxe version, charging $29.95 before it would let me file federal or print. (We chose not to file state with them because of the extra fee.) There was no warning or indication that this would occur. Is this bait and switch legal? How about a class action suit against the company?

Did not pay
Turbotax screwed up and admitted the error: "Based on the terms of our Accuracy Guarantee, Intuit will reimburse you $3, 431.00 for the interest/penalties you paid to the Internal Revenue Service . Please allow us 2 to 3 weeks to process the check. " But they NEVER SENT THE CHECK. I've emailed them several times and they refuse to respond. Do not use, they are liars and crooks.

Stay away at all costs
I am beginning to wonder who owns Turbo Tax.
I have always had a professional preparer, but when the price climbs to $425 prep.for a single mother who owns nothing, I tried Turbo Tax.
I used it in 2006. Easy. Simple. Cheap. In May 2008, I was then audited for 2006 and put through months of penalties, fees and add on's, and was told I would have won, but the time limit meant I had to simply pay up. What time limit you might ask? The one that passed by waiting months for the IRS to dialogue, then respond.
I paid the extortion on a credit card.
Now, I get another notice of an audit for 2008 taxes.
That was the only other time I used Turbo Tax.
It shows I did not list $32 for an interest checking account (understood) and my $900 return from the state the previous year. Was this the stimulus that it never asked about, from Bush?
Are you kidding me?!?
I filed what I had, as it asked it of me.
What good is an audit guarantee if during the slow, dragged out BS, time limits are missed, penalties apply and interest?
I AM A SINGLE MOTHER! I have never been one to lie, cheat or steal.
I recommend this product only if you love to fight for years in a way that makes you feel helpless and hopeless.
I recommend this product only if you already know what needs to be asked, so that if it misses something, you are aware.
I now know why people work under the table.
No turbo Tax for me. It is a guarantee to me, alright: a Guarantee for an audit!

Cannot Cancel Account/Horrible Company
Other than TurboTax having minimal and useless customer service, an all around horrible product that you can get most other places for a fraction of the price and continuously send you emails even though you never agreed to recieve any- you cannot delete your account. You cannot cancel your membership. I wanted my PERSONAL information out of their database, out of the hands of their affiliates and after searching with a fine-toothed comb through the website for some way to get out, I emailed the comapany. Two days later I recieved this email:
Dear TaxACT(R) Customer:
If you wish to discontinue using our services at any time during the tax season, you may simply abandon your online return. If you would like to remove all personal data from your return, simply log back into your return and remove or replace any personal information with fictitious data.
You may also disable your account by signing in to your return at www.taxactonline.com. Then click the link "My TaxACT"; click "Update your Account Information"; click "Disable your Account". On the following screen you will see a link to permanently disable the account.
Thank you for using TaxACT. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hows that for protecting your identity from identity theft? I can't help but think this website and the whole process is a scam and a phishing website. It's too late, I signed up for a low priced e-file and they wanted to charge me over $40 for a state return. Crooks. I got the same thing from a similar website for less than $20 and now these people have all my personal information and never supplied me with a thing.

Fraud
As a long-time user of TurboTax, at least 11 years, I have finally had enough. This year I was only able to e-file three returns (five are supposedly included in the price) before the software cut me off, saying that I had already filed five. Customer support said, "sorry, we hear that there is a problem with that but there's nothing we can do other than tell you to print and file by mail."
My attempts to be reimbursed for the e-file fee after redoing the return online with another provider were ignored; responses to emails were canned replies and to make matters worse, sent from no-reply addresses so that I had to re-enter everything in a new submission if I wished to continue the conversation.
This problem only increases my displeasure with this company. I have used the basic version for years since I live in a state that does not have a state income tax. This year, I was forced to buy the deluxe edition even though my tax status has not changed. If they would concentrate their efforts on trying to produce a good product instead of figuring out ways to charge more, they would be better off. I will never use any of their products again!

E-filing/Customer Service
I've used TurboTax in the past and it always has been pretty easy and hassle free. Not this year.
In past years, I have done enough supplemental freelance work to have to file self-employment income. Along with this filing comes a Schedule C form for miscellaneous self-employment income. I did not have enough supplemental income this year to file self-employment taxes, but based on previous years' filings through TurboTax, the software keeps insisting that I fill out a Schedule C form. I have no information to enter into the form, so I have tried to bypass it, but the "error check" keeps requiring it. After I bypassed it a few times, the software indicated that I am at a moderate risk for being audited because I did not report my (non-existant!!) self-employment income. Because of this warning, I purchased audit protection for $39.95. I was then directed to the payment window, where my total payment to TurboTax was $151.85—much higher than I had anticipated, but I had to go to work and wanted to get my taxes done, so I entered my credit card information. After that, I clicked "continue" to e-file and was informed that I cannot file electronically because I did not file a Schedule C. Later today, at work, I signed back in and I tried to contact an expert, but I got a pop-up with an asterisk indicating that I agree to be charged $29.99 for the first 20 minutes of the expert's time, so I tried to figure it out myself. I then noticed a link on the sign-on page that said I could delete forms, so I deleted the Schedule C. It seemed like that would solve the problem. Nope; I clicked through everything again and the error check said I need to file my Schedule C. So I figured I would just print out my paperwork and file by mail. TurboTax didn't like that idea; it will not let me file until I pay AGAIN!!! It took me about 20 minutes to find out how to contact customer service (every time I tried to find a phone number or e-mail address, it made me enter a question and automatically produced answers that did not address my problems, or it tried to refer me to an expert consultation for $30. Arrgh!!! This is a nightmare. I wish I had just completed a regular 1040 myself. I have one income source and do not own a home or have children. This should NOT be this difficult or costly!
TurboTax indicated that I was ready to file and it took my payment information.
