I believe that this man is running a backyard breeding operation and possibly not reporting all the money that he is making from selling the puppies. The reason I think that he may not be reporting all of the money is because if we paid by credit card we had to pay sales tax but if we paid CASH there was no sales tax involved.
When we first walked into the house it smelled horribly. He had brought the two female puppies out on to the front porch before we got there but we could hear all of the other puppies crying in the back room. To be honest, the reason that we bought the puppy is because we couldn't stand to leave her there. I know that is a bad reason to buy a dog but we felt horrible for her.
We purchased her on a Saturday and brought her to the vet on the following Monday. She presented with intestinal parasites, not the normal round worm commonly found in puppies and double eye infections. We had to place her on 2 oral antibiotics and an eye cream. I understand that contractually the seller is not obligated to any medical expenses incurred after we purchased the puppy, my grip is not with that. My complaint is that someone in the USDA needs to get out there and look at this place and them either shut it down or force them to make improvements. I am also concerned that it appears that these people are not reporting the cash transactions and although they are getting away with ripping the government off they are not providing good living conditions for the animals. I have attached the copy of a letter that I wrote to him today and subsequently mailed to him. I'm not sure that this will do any good but I had to tell someone for the sake of the puppies.
