Recieved a letter of sweepstakes prize winnings in the amount of $9700.00 and a very real looking check in the amount of $997.92. The letter gives the address of Tustin Mkting in Vancouver BC Canada, a phone number in Ontario and a fax number in New York.
The letter is signed by Sean hayes and the check signature is illegible.
Also on the letter is a phone number to call, 905-598-1647 (which is in Ontario) and the name of person to contact as Brenda Niles. There is a claim number on the check which i know nothing about. I DID attempt to call the phone number but is not answered or is answered and immediately put on hold. Made several attempts and always same result. This notification is most definetely a scam and the bogus check is written on Farmers & Merchants Bank in Long Beach, no state given. The mailed envelope had no return address, not US postmark, and the address was a windows generated address label.
I am attempting contact with the so-called bank, also forwarding the letter and check to Texas attorney general's office. These scams need to be stopped. Lowell Graves, Texas
