Overcharged to make up for the recession
TXU ENERGY is FULL OF CRAP! I pay my bills full every month on time. This month my light bill was $1354, their reason was backcharging since November 2009. My light bill around the cold months was $200+ which was expected, then they talking about those were only estimates because our meter was not accessible. On this invoice that we got it stated that there was an actual reading done on 12/28/09, 1/27/10, and 2/28/10 (which were the months they estimated). I received a letter dated 1/30/10 stating that my meter is not acessible for reading (that I better make it accessible or I will lose service, or they will install or relocate my meter). IF MY METER WAS INACCESSIBLE ON 1/30/10, HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO GET AN ACTUAL READ ON 12/28/09, 1/27/10, and 2/28/10? My husband and I called about 6 times to speak to a cust service rep, 3 of them we gave our phone numbers out clearly and they jot it down so they can call back if we get disconnected, when I asked one rep about the above (regarding actual reading done but meter was inaccessible), the rep hung up on me and never called me back (can you say guilty?), the one before that (in billing) could not explain my charges so I was transferred to sales (after telling the rep that I was not trying to change plans or buy anything), the rep I got from sales said "I'm so sorry, I wish I could explain your bill, but I work in sales, I can't understand your bill myself, let me transfer you to someone in sales." The rep I was transferred to explained my bills just fine. He said my light bill in Feb was $593. He is out of his mind! One rep I spoke to said, don't worry we can set up installments for you and you would not get charged a late fee, you will only be paying $396 for 4 months (yeah...plus my regular monthly charges of who knows how much they will charge me for $500? bringing my monthly payments to almost $1000). They must be crazy! Guess what? They ain't gettin' no dime from us, cause we switchin!
THERE HAD BEEN SO MUCH COMPLAINTS REGARDING ENERGY COMPANY RIP OFFS, THAT'S ALMOST ALL OF THEM. COULD IT BE ALL THESE UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES IS DUE TO THE RECESSION? IF I REALLY WANT TO GET THEM I WILL TURN OFF EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE FOR A MONTH AND GO OUT OF TOWN AND WE'LL SEE IF WE STILL GET A $500 LIGHT BILL. WE BELIEVED THAT THE ENERGY COMPANIES DO NOT CARE BECAUSE AS CONSUMERS, WE NEED OUR POWER. THEY EXPECT US TO PAY WHATEVER AMOUNT THEY WISHED TO CHARGE BECAUSE OF THAT. THIS NEEDS TO STOP! THEY'RE GOING TO END RAISING SOMEONE'S BLOOD PRESSURE AND WILL CAUSE A HEART ATTACK OR A STROKE.

Billing BS
I recently became a TXU Energy customer as of 10/1/09. My bills have been ranging from $120-$160. I found this highly unusual but that's what I was billed so that's what I paid.
Well after 3months...I receive a $756 bill!!! I freaked out! I called and talked to SEVERAL represenatives who could not help me so I requested to speak to a supervisor and after being on hold for almost a hour I FINALLY was able to speak to a supervisor who also could careless about my complaints and was only interested in setting me up on a payment plan. I told them if my meter was not being read correctly it should not be MY FAULT and they should not try to RETRO payment. They would not help me. SO I called Centerpoint Energy to complain that my meter was not being read correctly, I was advised to request a "re-read" and if there was a error, my bill would be correct. No Word back. I then call TXU to check on my bill amount, it now reached $1331!!! I was FUMING at this point, called TXU got the runaround AGAIN...and still was unable to get them to help me correct this issue...and unless I did not make a payment my electricity would be cut off.
I am still fighting this battle...I have filed a formal complaint w/ the Texas Public Utility Commission to see if I can get any resolution...the battle continues...

Billing Scam
When I opened my business in 2008, I was required to place a 125.00 deposit on my account for two years. It was my understanding that it would be held with interest. In 2009 I signed a contract with TXU to lower my bill. When the second bill arrived and the new rate was still not applied to my account, I contacted TXU and was told that it was a "computer glitch" and it would work itself out and would apply to my account. I called every month after that and heard the same story. I finally wrote a complaint to PUC in Austin and they contacted TXU, which finally led to the account being credited. If I would not have contacted PUC in Austin, I still would be fighting that computer glitch. At the end of the two years, I shut my service off when I relocated my business to our home address. I am still fighting for my deposit which TXU denies that they owe me. They state it was applied to my last bill, but I did not have a bill since I had so much credit due to me from their overbilling. It has now been 4 months and I will have to take time out of my busy day and write PUC to get my deposit back. TXU energy is the biggest scam in electric companies. Beware!!!

Made my family starve for three days
I am writing to let TXU Energy now how mad, upset or down right angry I ma. I have had your service for MANY years. I have paid my bill, maybe not on time, but yet paid it. I am the only one working in my household to put food and pay the bills. My husband has fallen ill over a year ago, and everything has laid on my shoulders. I asked for a three day extention until I get paid, and it'd like your company has NO sympathy what so ever. I am so pissed over this that It makes me want to change electric company. I know you (TXU Energy) couldn't give a rates @## what I do, but this is NO WAY close to having compassion for another human being. I have said my peace, and thank you TXU Energy for NOTHING!!! so my family will starve for the three extra days so you will have that money that you are SSOOO desperately needing... GOD love you TXU!!!

OMG R U SERIOUS

Outrageous Wattage
Okay, here we go. For the past two months my bill has increased. Here's the story:
I live in a one bedroom apt, no bigger than 800 sq ft.
December, I received my bill for $128.00 (rounded), which was normal.
January, I received my bill for $248.00 (rounded). My bill w/TXU never raised over $150.00 so I gave them a call. Of course I got a foreigner who I could barely understand. She told me that I was using more KW's. I told her my usage was the same from the month before so I'm wondering what's going on. She also told me to go and read my meter again. Now, the way they teach you to read the meter is absolutely not understandable. I then decided to use less energy. I had my windows and doors resealed with new weather stripping, I unplugged appliances I wasn't using, switched clocks to battery operated, unplugged my TV, wireless router, computer and radio at night and replug it when I returned from work the following day. I made sure when I left a room I turned the light off. The heater was off during the day and I even had my two yr old son watching tv and playing with his toys in the dark.
Here comes Feburary's bill. I'm thinking I got my bill down, but the joke was on me. $342.00 (rounded)! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! ON A 1 BEDROOM APT, ARE YOU SERIOUS?
I called again, again they told me to read the meter. I told them the weather is bad now and to read that meter is impossible. I were told they could send another tech out to read the meter but I would be charged. I was so pist, I began cussing and fussing. I then took it upon myself to email corporate. Not long after I get a call from an AMERICAN REP located in my city and guess what she told me, "READ THE METER AGAIN!" Knowing she is local (judging my by the area code of her return phone number), she full well knows it is freezing and raining. I returned her call and guess what, I got her voicemail. She called back, I couldn't get to the phone I was in a meeting, but you would not believe what the message said, "READ THE METER AGAIN!" OMG! I called her back, got her voicemail and told her that I'm considering switching to another energy company. Ambit is low but I've read some disturbing info on them. Relient and Green Mountain is the only other energy companies in TX.
If there's anyone out there who knows of an energy co., that is any good, please let me know!

INADVERT SLAM
I recieved my electric bill over 6 months ago with an over 3, 000 charge on it. When I call the TXU ENERGY concerning this bill, they informed me that this was a fee for early termination of my contract with them. I inform them that I had not terminated my contract and had no idea who had changed my electric utility provider. I proceeded to try and find out who had changed my provider, and I was told that I could not get that information because someone else had open up a new account with my business address in another business name. Because of the privacy act I could not find out who changed my provider or what business was using my address. I have called numerous times and was promised that they would drop these charges, because I was not responsible for them. They even informed me that I was a victim of an inadvertly slam. I am continuing to pay my fixed monthly payments to keep from getting behind on my electric bill, but the lack of cooperation from TXU ENERGY is getting very frustrating.
Your cooperation in helping me to get this cleared up will be greatly appreciate. Thank you.

Stating payments have not been recieved
I was TXU customer and was paying no more than 92.00 a month while living in my house. when I suddenly moved into an apt my bill began to reach 300.00 dollars. I sent out a payment in august 2008 and they claim it was never recieved. I was asked to provide a reciept which I did. then they said it was to faded and that it was not valid. then they said they could not find that reciept number in their systwm. I now have bad credit on my credit repoert from them. I was asked to contact the people I went to make my payment I did that they sent a new reciept and txu still claims it is not valid. I refused to pay yhem anymore money till they can provide me with my credit of payment. they are also a bunch of rip offs.

Poor customer service
I heard a new billing system has resulted in many billing errors and disatisfied customers receiving billing for services from many months ago which are not even correct. I was billed for over $500 usage at an apartment I never rented after turning down a job and informing TXU that I was not moving in after all. Since they would not contact the owner or apartment manager, the burden of proof was on me to get an apartment manager I do not even know to fax a statement on my behalf. I have accrued over $25 in fax and $5 in mailing fees. After closing my account 5 months ago, I received a final billing invoice and paid connect fees-only but was billed for no usage since I never moved-in. Now 5 months later, I am being billed for 5 months on electric usage. I have spent hours of my time and my own money having to prove I never lived there, prove I actually called and cancelled services in spite of having a final billing invoice and proof that I live in another State. Customer service is being provided by uneducated and incompetent people in foreign countries and an automated phone and e-mail system with no competent person responding even at the supposed Executive Feedback Center where you get a series of e-mail responses that your e-mail was not properly processed or received-reply again in this space etc. and then your e-mail keeps getting sent back-more roadblocks to customer service. Customer service workers are living in another country-working on Thanksgiving and 24 hours a day 7 days a week, did not even understand why I was shocked that they were working on Thanksgiving until I realized they were in another country and time zone. I was told that I could not prove that I called so I had to remind him that as a T-Mobile customer in the US, I have access to detailed billing statements listing all of my phone calls which I can prove. I always get excellent customer service from Americans at T-Mobile by the way. But the burden of proof for correcting a biiling error should not be on the customer. I had to explain that in America, you are innocent until proven guilty. I have 20 years of excellent credit but was being questioned as if I was a criminal saying well how do we know you really called TXU and cancelled your service, you could be living in 2 states and it is on you to prove yourself or pay or we will report you to all 3 credit bureaus etc. Three of the customer service workers knew nothing about the law, consumer rights e.g. do not understand why I wanted a physical address so I could send certified letter or serve papers on TXU Energy to protect my good credit rating legally. They say just call or fax-which does not hold hold up in court and then they can keep questioning if you really called or faxed to get you to pay. Just sending proof of out of state residence, utility bills from another state, a final TXU invoice of account closure was not good enough for these incompetent, less than minimum wage workers called investigators. TXU must think they have consumers over an oil barrel. Boycott this company and require them to hire US citizens to work and not 24-7 or on Thanksgiving. Make them uphold consumer legal rights or do not patronize their services. They need a good class action lawsuit to shut such practices down. TXU business practices reflect what is wrong about what is happening in America-losing our rights and having our jobs sent to foreign countries and our hard earned money extorted by corrupt billing errors. I have already contacted the Texas Public Utilities Commission and next will contact the Attorney General. Hope it gets resolved soon!
