Doug Molloy, who has led the Fort Myers U.S. Attorney’s Office since 1992, was demoted Thursday in a management-team change by new U.S. Attorney Robert O’Neill.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Waid, who came to Fort Myers from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., last September, is acting chief for the office.
Molloy, 54, who grew up in Fort Myers, is now an assistant U.S. attorney. He was chief assistant through 10 different U.S. attorneys in Tampa.
Molloy declined comment Thursday.
Molloy had spent the majority of his time in a supervisory role, but will now spend it solely as a prosecutor.
