After not receiving mail at my residence located at 1146 Iroquois Dr. Elgin Ill. for several weeks. On February 20 2009 I contacted the Grove Street post office and spoke to a supervisor regarding no mail deliveries at my address. After a brief search the supervisor returned and stated that the mail carrier had listed my house as "vacant" and returned all of my mail after holding it at the post office for one month. At no time did anyone from the post office contact me or leave a notice that my mail had been held at the post office or the reason for the hold other than the carrier decided that my home was vacant. After not receiving my monthly utility bills I became alarmed and sought the assistance of the post office to explain why I was not receiving my mail. I contacted all of my utility providers and a Federal court in an effort to learn if the mail sent to me at my address 1146 Iroquios Dr. Elgin had been returned and was informed that there were no returned mail to their agencies.
Contrary to the mail carriers explanination to his supervisor this is a frightening event and requires a full investigation. The mail carrier took it upon him/herself to tamper with my mail without my permission or instructions from a postal supervisor or the post master responsible for this field office. It is imperative that this matter is handled quickly so as to prevent any further caustic mistakes of this nature in the future.
Thank you,
Sincerely, Bennie Sowers
