I am an unemployed legal secretary that has worked in this field for 25 years. I recently applied to a lawfirm looking for a secretary in the field that I have worked (labor & employment). This job was for a floater position, which if you are not familiar with the term, it is a secretary that goes from desk to desk to fill in for absent secretaries and does not have a permanent assignment. I understood that and applied for the position anyway. Because I have always had a permanent position at law firms, they would not consider me for the job. They assumed that I would be bored. I would love the chance to do the job. Soo at this point in time I am also assuming that my age (57), having the skills that I have in the above named field (them thinking that I would not be happy starting out at 35, 000 a year is also a critical part of this assumption on their part as well. How do I get a job when I am challenged unfairly like this?
