Beware of Unicare!!

We had their Solaura health plan which was actually a pretty good and innovative plan - $1000 of your premiums was set aside in a "credits" account that could be used to cover deductable, uncovered items, etc. and the unused amounts could rollover year to year

All great. We had accrued $2000 in "credits" - HOWEVER, suddenly Unicare unilaterally decided to pull out of Illinois.

They also declared that the $2000 was not really our money (even though they quite obviously didn't set the funds aside out of their own benificience - they charged us the extra $1000 per year over the cost of their other similar plan that had no "credits") - they declared that those funds were now forfeit because THEY were folding their tents in Illinois.

Multiply that across the thousands of similar insured in Illinois and you're talking about Unicare ripping off MILLIONS of dollars - and the Illinois Dept of Insurance let them get away with the theft because Unicare called the money that they set aside from OUR premiums "credits" as if THEY were giving us something.

Corporate criminality and government stupidity, complicity, and neglect - yet another wonderful opportunity for others to dip their hands into your pocket and steal your money!!
