I was approached by two young men in a parking lot claiming they were raising money to go on a trip while doing good deeds. Apparently, the subscriptions to these magazines were going to children in foster homes, or children's hospitals...and they got points for how many they sold so they could go on a trip...These guys even had id's and such. Me being such a dope that I am; thought I should do a good deed and help they kids...not the guys, but I thought it would be nice to do something dor kids in need. After I wrote a check for over 60 dollars, I told a coworker about it. She told me it was a scam and to cancel the transaction immediately. Reading the back of my reciept it stated that you could cancel the transaction as long as the request was postmarked within three days. I did this immediately. When I got a card in the mail saying to call some 1888 number with a my reciept number from this trasaction hand written on the card. When I called them; they said that the company had gone out of business on the 18th and there were no refunds being given. My check and cancellation request was on the 8th. Needless to say I won't be getting refund; and there was no information they would give me. Guess that's what you get for trying to be a good person...bad people run away with your money. Losers.
