A young man came to my door. He claimed his mom lives in the neighborhood and even gave me a street name. He said we was a student at CU and that he was raising money to go on an overseas trip. He only needed to sell 2 more book sets to get there. I asked how much they were and he said $42. I said that's too much. Then he said, we'll a neighbor down the street bought half a book collection and I could buy the other half for $20. The collection of books was to be sent overseas to needy children.
The man said he'd even come and wash my car as a thank you. Sadly I did write a check and felt good that I was helping out kids who needed it.
I noticed that my reciept was quite vague. I went online to research the company and I see hundreds of complaints about the company. THIS IS A FRUAD!!! DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THIS ORGANIZATION!
They follow a similar script as I outlined above so you'll know whether it's a legitimate group or not. I can't believe that this has gone on so long and they can't find this organization and shut them down. I see that compliants go back as far at 2002.
Please don't be a victim like I was!
