I recently received a voice mail in regards to a criminal matter and I paid no attention. I then received several more calls with no message but from several different numbers and then today I actually picked up on one not knowing it was the same people calling from yet another phone number. The first individual was a woman and she attempted to tell me that there were multiple crimal charges pending against me and that this was serious (she ahd a very heavy indian accent). I asked her over and over again what this was in regards to and then asked her what the case number was. It was at that point that I was transferred to a man who said his name was Officer Jeffery Hamilton (again with a very heavy indian accent). He started threatening me and telling me that if I did not take care of this that he would be calling my employer and I could potentially loss my job because of this. After I asked he why this was the first I was hearing of this he told me that was not possible and that if I needed to speak to an attorney to resolve this that they could put me in touch with one. It was at this point that I was sure that this was a scam. He got angry and told me that I would be arrested within the hour and that this all could be avoided but if I was choosing to ruin my life by not taking care of this that I would only have myself to blame. He then started yelling at me that when I was arrested that it would cost me a minimum of $25, 000 to resolve this. I told him that they obviously had the wrong person that I paid all of my bills and that this was a load of crap and obviously a scam. I then hung up on him. After I hung up on him I called a friend of mine with the local police department and told him what had happened. He told me that this type of phone scam was going on like crazy and he encouraged me to file a complaint. I told him I would later in the week but he gave me some great advice, he told me if they call again to tell them to meet me at the police station and that we can take care of everything.

This type of scam really makes me angry, not only telling people that there are multiple pending felony charges against them but to then tell someone that they will be calling their employer and that they might fire them as a result of these charges.
