I just had a package delivered to my home by a UPS employee at 6p.m. this evening. I was upstairs getting ready to take a shower when I heard the door open. I did not think much about it because my fiancees friends come and go at times. I would have stepped down stairs to check, but I was clearly not descent. So I took my shower, and went back downstairs.
Right before my shower, I had counted all of my tip money, so that I could pay my soon to be father in law the money that I owe him. There was over 300 dollars on my kitchen table before I went upstairs to take my shower, consisting of 3 twenties on the top of a stack of ones, fives, and tens 6 inches high. When I came downstairs, the bag of trash that was in front of my door to be taken downstairs to the dumpster was moved forward, so I opened the door to see if there was anyone or anything still outside of my door. I saw a huge box delivered by UPS. Then I started to talk to my fiancee about how I needed more larger bills to pay his father back because I did not want to give him a hundred dollars in ones. I looked all over for those 3 tenty dollar bills and cound not find them. Then it all hit me that they were stolen because someone entered my apartment without permission.
So instantly, I call down to UPS and the police station. I sent my fiancee down to the UPS delivery building where they treated him very rudely, telling him things like "Our employees would never do that, that would call for automatic termination... Why would they risk their job?" He was dismissed with no further action being done about the situation.
It is so sad that the world is coming to this. I work very hard for my money so that I can raise my two children and make a good and safe home for them. I want those that do read this to be very aware and to know that the world really has come to having to lock your doors even when you are at home, no matter whether you live in the city or a small town.
