Last August I arranged a payment plan with my Financial Advisor to evenly divide my financial obligation throughout the end of my degree program. A few weeks ago, my Financial Advisor changed, and the individual contacted me to tell me that I had an outstanding out of pocket expense of $4038.80 that needed to be satisfied before I could begin my final 2 classes.
I provided her with the email thread between my previous advisor and myself outlining my financial obligations, an agreed upon payment plan, and acceptance of the payment plan. She researched my file and referred my account to another department only to confirm her figures. I have been given one option which is to pay a monthly payment of $1395 (more than my mortgage) to pay off my balance by the end date of my final class.
I have requested information to file a formal complaint, and instead of being provided the information, my advisor has another light bulb experience and wants to try something else before giving me the information. Almost a month later, I am still in discussions with University of Phoenix in regard to this situation. I have filed a complaint with the BBB as well.
I am requesting that University of Phoenix absorb the out of pocket expense that they failed to include in the payment contract that was established, approved, and upheld last August. Unfortunately, I am not optimistic that University of Phoenix will accept my request, however that decision is still to be determined.
