Has anyone from Topeka KS had trouble with US Bank? I wanted to close my account because they would not allow me to put a stop on a check because they said if I meant to write the check then I am obligated to pay it. So I told them I wanted to close my account and they said I could not do that because I have checks out. By the time the finally closed my account I owed $400.00 in overdraft fees. The money I had in the bank to cover checks except for one they sent them back to place I wrote them. The check that I tried to put a stop on was electronically deposited and I didn't have the money to cover it, the smaller checks that should of been covered were all sent back too and all the fees started adding up. I had to go to all of the places I wrote checks to that should of went through and pay them 30 dollars each. Then I went back to the bank and tried to arrange payments to pay them, they said they couldn't take payments I could apply for a loan and use the money to pay the $400.00. I said no the min. amt for a personal loan was $2500.00. I didn't need that money or another bill. They ended up turning it into some collection agency that told me if I agree to pay $350.00 in 5 monthly payments they would drop the interest and $50.00 of the principle. Well they are liars and thieves just like the bank. After the deal was made with one person they put you on hold for 17 mins. then you get disconnected and the person you were talking to is busy and they have another person take over and you are told to go purchase a money card and they will call you on your paydays to arrange the amount to be taken out. When you have made the 5 payments and don't make anymore they start harrassing you for more money and you tell them that you completed the arrangement and all of a sudden they are stupid and have no idea what deal you are talking about. There has to be someone out there that protects us against these rip off people. Is anyone else in Topeka Ks having problems with US Bank and their collection agency? Please comment and maybe as a group we can do something. Thanks
