misrepresented service
I just wanted to post my complaint and to relay the information that I received so that others know where they should be filing complaints (see last paragraph if you want to skip what happened to me.)

I was contacted regarding our home telephone service and told that because we had a low usage line that our line qualified for a discounted rate. It was not explained to me that this was a third party that was not affilited with my current provider. It was also not explained that the conditions of the service were to change. I was told the service rate would be dropped to 2.99 a month and no changes would be made to service. When I received the first bill, it listed charges for all long distance phone calls made and the bill stated "billed on behalf of US Telecom Long Distance". I called to inquire about the charges and my service provider informed me that the bill was from a third party and my service had been switched over. I immediately cancelled the service.

US Telecom misrepresented itself by not explaining to me that they would be contacting my provider and taking over my service. This was only explained to me by my service provider when I called to ask about the charges. They also misrepresented the service provided as I had free local and long distance calling and would not have agreed to pay for a service that was not needed!!

Here is the kicker: If you look at your bill it states USBI. This is the company that does the billing for U.S. Telecom, which I had to get the U.S. Telecom rep to explain to me. I put a complaint in with the Better Business Bureau about U.S. Telecom and my husband was contacted by one of their representatives last night. The women who my husband spoke to was extremely rude and proceeded to argue with him about our complaint. She accused him of lying and said that their representatives did not tell him that they offer unlimited local and long distance calling because they don't offer it. He then asked her why we would want to pay more for our phone; who would agree to that!! So after 15 minutes of this woman being VERY unprofessional she told him that they would not give us a refund but then proceeded to ask us how much we were charged. They had no idea how much our bill was AND when I recieved the cancellation letter from U.S. Telecom in the mail yesterday it had the wrong name listed with our telephone number!! Needless to say I am still infuriated with this whole thing but I hope this helps somebody. File a complaint, this shit should be illegal.
