misstreatment
I hired US-1 Van Lines to move from Miami to New Jersey. It had to be a smart move, as having a little baby, I wanted to make sure to have my things in the new house before arriving. I first spoke to "Tommy", supposedly the sales manager and he made me feel this was the best company to hire, not because they had the cheapest price, but because they sound credible about when my things could arrive to their destination. Once I accepted working with them, I had to deal (everything on the phone) with someone called "Lisa", and there the nightmare started. Lisa kept changing the date of the arrival of my things, at least four times. She would never call me, but I had to call everytime, in order to get acquanted of the changes. In the meantime, I kept bothering the friends who were going to receive and place my stuff in NJ. After the second or third time changing dates, Lisa got a terrible attitude on the phone, and it felt as if they were doing me a big favor. It got so desperate and being it not my first language, I decided I did not want to deal with her anymore, especially because I am breastfeeding and it got VERY weird. Then my cousin took the phone and one of the conversations ended by Lisa saying "I don't need to hear your crab anymore!". Once in the road, the driver was also quite difficult and showed no respect for us. His name was something like Ross. They always say they are going to call you with enough time, so that you are ready to receive the things, but a Friday around 9pm they hadn't called to confirm the Saturday delivery. So I called Ross and he said they were on their way to my house and the delivery could be at 10.00pm. I managed to have a friend waiting there for them! Then, they appeared in the biggest truck possible, and wanted to charge more than what I paid for the move, to download it from where they could park, as we would have had to remove all the cars in the block to park their truck. They make you sign a contract stating whether you have available space in front of your house for the truck to park, but it is impossible that anybody can park in front of their house those humongous trucks one sees in the interstate highways. In fact, that night they got stuck in the city! Those trucks cannot be drove in small cities! Finally, I decided to make my trip to New Jersey, in order to deal with the problem, as I did not want to bother my friends anymore with what was becoming a nightmare. I asked them about the free-storage week they offer. Then they told me it was a week before the truck departs from the origin! AS IF YOU COULD DECIDE WHEN THEY ARE LEAVING! They never leave until they have completed the truck load and it is out of our hands! After getting very very upset on the phone with them, they accepted not to charge for making the delivery on the next day. Still, I had to hire a storage place near my house, as they couldn't do the delivery in the big truck. So, I had to pay other 115 dollars to have my things just NEAR my place, and then, once in NJ, hire another small truck to take them home and assamble the stuff, which they should do as part of the contract. Oh well, I hope you do not hesitate in never using this company. Personally, even if I had to pay more, or things were delayed, I would have never been so upset if I had received a good treatment!

Lost/damaged items
Pick up was good and timely, except for the fact that they charged twice what was quoted.

On delivery they "lost" over 200 items, including a computer, a bicycle, a scanner, a breadmaker, tools, all my power tools, etc, etc.. All easily resalable on the black market.

And on top of that they damaged pretty much all the furniture that they moved. Over $10, 000 worth of damage and loss, and now they are offering us $600 to reimburse us.
