Scam
I sent in a nice, untouched Blackberry Phone to this company. It was quoted at $48. The mailer envelope came quickly, I placed the phone, and being generous, also included the charger, earphone and what accesories I could. I figured, why not give them everything, I have no use for it.
Then several days later I received this email...

We're processing your order as we speak.
We're just dotting our I's and crossing our T's to make sure your phones match your information and the quote you received. When that's done, we'll send you an email letting you know the status of your payment.
In the meantime, pat yourself on the back for being so environmentally cool. And spread the word to your friends and get them to do the same!

Thanks,

P.S. Your check amount, if any, may be different than the quote you received if you sent in fewer phones or a different cell make or model than what was quoted.

Please do not reply to this email. To connect with someone in our Customer Support area, email us at [email protected].

I then sent an email to the support address...only to get a logon template to discuss it. I did that and now it sits as an open issue, with nothing replied to or commented on since then. That was on 5/21/11...I could have turned it into Verizon, my cell phone company, for $24, like I did with several other phones and got credit within 3 business days. How many T's are you crossing and I's are you dotting?

A Total Fraud
What total frauds usell.com are. After making an initial posting about about the extended delays, the host of excuses about why it was taking so long for my IPhone to be valued, I get an email from the usell CEO Dave Feirstein saying my phone was worthless. A fully funtional Iphone less than two years old, and checked by AT&T Store prior to being sent. I attached the email below. Goes to show that the complaints posted on this site and others about the outright fraud usell commits ring true. Save yourself the time and effort and use a vendor other than usell or simply donate to a worthy local charity.
We can't give you money for your phones.

But we will recycle them for you for free.

Darn, your phones have no value. We understand this might be a bit disappointing to hear so please allow us to explain. Unfortunately, they may not have powered up, they may have been cracked or had a badly damaged screen or, they just may not have had any resale value because they're obsolete models.

But, good news. We'll recycle them for you free of charge so you can sleep well at night knowing they haven't ended up in a landfill. Now that's worth something, right?

Thanks,

P.S. Have other environmentally conscious friends? Tell them about us and we'll recycle their phones too.

All The Indicators Of Fraud
Count me in as another victim of uSell. My experience follows the patterns described by other contributors to this site. First, over three weeks passed after sending in my IPhone. When I made an email inquiry to uSell (no telephone number available), I received the explaination my phone had not been received and that the USPS was to blame for slow prossessing. I contacted the USPS Brentwood Processing Facility and was told that there were no problems with deliveries to uSell and that other postal customers had telephoned with similar complaints. When I emailed uSell again, I was informed with much fanfare that my phone had arrived and was being appraised. That was over two weeks ago. When I made inquiry as to why I was not receiving the advertised uSell email updates regarding the processing of my phone, I was told that uSell was experiencing problems with their internal communications - whatever that means. I was part of a group of people who upgraded iPhones. The members of my group who sent their phones to other sites received checks weeks ago. After reading the postings on this site, and others sites based on a simple Google search of uSell Compliants, I wish I had just donated my phone to charity. Paper thin shipping bags, claims of broken phones, repeated delays, conflicting stories and payments less than quoted values are all indicators of fraud. As phones are shipped via USPS, I will be filing a complaint with the Postal Inspectors (postalinspectors.uspis.gov) and urge others who have had similar experiences with uSell to do the same. If you have a phone you want to recycle for cash, consider another company besides uSell or donate to a local charity.

untruthfull
it appears I have been scammed out of 2 iPhones sent to uSELL.com, as did a lot of people have been. I have not heard from them since sending in my phones, only to get a password to check status, BTW this doesnt work, so now ive sent a email asking where my phones are and so far nothing back from uSELL.com

fraud
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE FRAUDS. There is a pattern of abuse, they quote you high prices and then send you a check for one to three dollars after you wait for the check 3 months. They attach a FORM LETTER that says your phone does not meet requirements so your check is lower that the quoted price...PURE B.S. DONT FALL FOR THERE TV COMMERCIALS!

Fraud
DO NOT USE USELL.COM!!!

I had switched from T-Mobile to Verizon and no longer needed my Samsung Memoir, which doesn't work on the Verizon network. My Samsung Memoir was in mint condition and was an 8 megapixel smart phone.

I considered three different cell phone mail in companies, but usell.com offered the biggest quote. I should have known there was something amiss when I noticed their quote was double the other two companies' quotes. I now realize that they over inflate their quotes as a bait and switch to steal your phone and your money.

Usell.com offered me approximately 70 dollars while the other two companies offered me 30-38 dollars.

When I finally got my check, it was for 18 dollars! I was sick to my stomach that my original assumption was correct; Usell.com is a scam. Being robbed of 50 bucks wasn't the worst part, but rather the shame I felt of thinking I might be walking into a scam, but subduing my better judgement by telling myself that I was being cynical and that this is a perfectly legal and ethical business venture, and then watching those initial fear come into fruition.

As soon as I emailed usell.com for an explanation, I was stone walled. Then, they had the utter audacity to tell me that the phone I sent them was actually a Samsung Behold, not a Samsung Memoir. The inclination I got was that they normally deal with people who don't know the difference between similar models, and that they could bully or convince me into believing that I sent them a completely different phone than the one I actually sent them. Unfortunately for them, I am a computer technician and former cell phone seller, and I know the difference between a Samsung Behold and a Samsung Memoir. I have never owned a Samsung Behold, so they are either lying to me to justify stealing 50 dollars from me, or they mixed up two customers' phones, either scenario is a justifiable reason for any potential new customer to avoid this wretched company.

They refused to supply me with a contact phone number or mailing address for escalation and I feel completely and thoroughly violated.

If there are any lawyers among us on this board, I would be a ready and willing participant in a class action lawsuit against usell.com, please email me at [email protected] to get this party started.

Also, to potential customers... A person claiming to represent usell.com will soon provide a comment to my complaint on this board. They will sound nice and try to diminish my complaint as a misunderstanding, and will claim that they are getting a bad wrap. But believe me when I tell you that the niceties exist only in these complaint forums. In private, via "customer service, " they will call you ignorant, stupid and try to silence and demean you.

Keep in mind that the CEO of usell.com has been convicted of defrauding the public with money for cash schemes, also a by-mail scam cooked up to steal your money. I didn't learn this fact until it was too late, but it's not too late for you to learn from my mistakes!

DO NOT USE USELL.COM!!!

Complete scam
I sent in a small box of phones to Usell after they sent me a quote for the phones. About a month later, they sent me a check for all of the cheap phones and none of the iPhones that I sent in. After sending a complaint to their complaints email address and getting a response a week later, Usell told me they did not receive any of the iPhones. How could that be true as all of the phones were packaged together? Usell just did not want to pay me for the more expensive phones. From doing more research on the company, this seems like a standard business practice of theirs. It is also borderline stealing! They do a great job protecting themselves as they do not have any phone numbers you can call, no company address, and no way to log into an account on their website (even though they give you an account id for a user login). I would stay clear of this company and their horrible business practices.

So far not so good
I saw a commercial for uSell.com. They promise to give you a reasonable quote for you gently used cell phones that you no longer need or want. I submitted a quote request for the 2 blackberry 8900 phones that I had. They quoted me @ $72.00/phone. Which to me was a great deal considering otherwise they would have been collecting dust in a drawer. So, I requested they send me the "secure" shipping bag and about 4-5 days later I received that. They send you the shipping bag and shipping label. I put both phones in the envelope...affixed the label and but it in the mail box. Now they promise to send you emails once they receive your phone and throughout the entire process. So, seeing that 3 weeks went by I figured let me shoot them an email (only way to reach them) and see what they say. Maybe they just forgot to email me right? NOPE! According to the rep helping me they have not even received the package. She continues in her email that maybe since I mailed it during the holiday season (I mailed it Dec. 22nd...it is now Jan 11) that maybe the USPS is just behind. Um, yea the post office can be slow...but not 3 weeks slow. I get my Netflix in 2 days...and that was over the holiday season also. So I respond back to her "well is there a way to track the package?" she emails back "no, they do not have a way of tracking it, but that all phones are insured up to $100/each." So, I respond" Ok, that's fine, but how long to I have to wait for something to happen then? Either way you need to cut me a check cause I'm not leaving this as just a loss. Yea I didn't want the phones anymore but you don't promise me one thing then then do another." I am currently waiting for her to respond to that. I will let you know what happens. But, my whole point is..I will never do this again...I will not recommend this service to anyone. If you do decide to give them a try I wish you luck.
