A joke of a tracking system!
This is the first and last time i'm using USPS! USPS picked up 6 packages fm my residence on 13 Mar 09. Till date, their online track and confirm still has this msg "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 13, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later." When i called them, the staff told me to go check online cos that's what the website is put there for. Only after i put my foot down, then she told me oh she could see in her system that the anticipated delivery date for the packages is 18 Mar 09, today and that they probably will only update the system after the package have been delivered??? What kind of stupid tracking system is this! Either you have it or you don't have it. I'm really shocked! This is America and this is United States Postal Service??? This is a disgrace! Having read some of the comments on this website makes me even more worried now. I have to start praying now that my packages get to my customers in one piece unopened, and forget abt the late delivery part. Unbelievable! I'm sure a third world country probably has a better postal system than them. I have travelled around the world, sent numerous packages fm different places and this is the last country i expected to faced any postal problems! This is really a disgrace! If USPS online track msg is just for protecting their ass, pls just take it off as i'm sure everyone knows by now what a lousy service provider you are and also knows that you guys are flooded with overflowing complaints to handle anyone else's complaints or either that pls be professional and go learn fm UPS what does tracking service means! Does USPS even have a top management that take notes of all these complaints or feedbacks and work on it? Does USPS have any compliance or enforcement department to ensure that every letter and package gets delivered in one piece on time? If not, i really think USPS is a joke and everyone fm the top level to the bottom level should be evaluated and start learning the basics of a postal system. If you have this depts in placed, then pls wake up and do your job! Stop chasing your customers away!

Lost Expensive! Packages
I mailed Christmas packages later than I expected. It was December 31st 2008. Around there. 2 out of 3 were fragile and expensive, those were insured. The one I know was not, but was the only one recieved. I complained to them about it, & its like they didnt care. There was no note at my household, no " return" packages. I believe someone stole it or either lost it. & they say I cant complain about it!! I spent over 500 dollars on those items, they need to do there jobs. Im fixin to sue.

failure to deliver mail
i received a notice of parcel delivery which could not be delivered becuase of size(2-17-09).I signed the back and requested a re-delivery date of (2-20-09).On saturday, I approached my postman concerning this parcel and asked when I might be receivng it and was told very rudely that he didn't work on 2-17-09 and he knew nothing of it.When I further questioned him of if he worked wednesday and maybe he saw the return slip for re-delivery of my parcel, he told me he was busy and did not have time to "fool with my dumb white ass.

Awful service
I order an item from a vendor and they emailed me on 01/27/2009 stating that they had shipped the item. 01/31/2009 comes and the postman doesn't even bother to ring the doorbell, he doesn't even drop off a slip for it. I work a ton of hours so my free time is very limited so when I say I expect something to be delivered on a specific date, then I expect to get what I requested. I didn't know this delivery attempt had even been made yet since there was no slip so I thought that the package was just slowly being delivered.

On 02/03/2009, the postman drops off the regular mail and doesn't even ring the doorbell AGAIN and this time leaves an orange slip. Well, three of us were home so any of us would of heard it and none of us did and trust me, that doorbell is loud. Due to the post office having limited hours of only being open M-F 8-5 and SAT 8-2, I was limited as to when I could go to the post office to pick up this item. So I called the automated system and scheduled for a redelivery for the next day, no problem right? WRONG!!!

So I went the first chance I could, which was on 02/07/2009. Of course they never have enough counter staff so you wait forever and a day just to be seen, before I handed her the slip I asked her when they stopped doing second delivery attempts and she told me that nine times out of ten they do not even get the redelivery requests from the automated system!? Then why print it on the card then!!!So I hand her the card and she is gone for several minutes before returning and she states 'we can't find this item, but my supervisor said that she put something on the cart for 2nd delivery attempt today but I do not know what'.

At this point, I didn't know that the second delivery attempt was on 02/04/2009, I thought that that was just the first. Well little did I know, after I log onto usps.com and check the status of the package and found out that it was the second attempt and that they had already sent it back to the vendor!? So because of their laziness and ignorance my package is back at the vendor and I got ripped off and lied to. Now here is what really got me, the usps.com website said that I was unavailable to delivery on the 01/31/2009, thats news to me! For 02/04/2009 it said insufficient address!?

So let me get this straight, the address was sufficient on the first attempt but he didn't want to ring the doorbell because that would of meant that he would of had to carry this package and god knows government workers hate to actually earn their keep in society the honest way, so he just decides to take the easy route and leave the package in his truck most likely. But the second time, my address was insufficient? Can we say falsifying federal documents???

They never attempted to deliver the package, so that is one federal document falsified, and they oddly said that the address is insufficient magically come the second delivery, thats falsifying a second document. Someone really just needs to sue the USPS and teach them a lesson is customer service! Long story short, I never got the package and I never get reimbursed for shipping!? RIP OFF!!!

lost and misrouted mail
Recently I experienced many mistakes over my mail. first was the incident when I personally dropped the car payment at the local post office. the company called me and they stated that they never received my mail and also they told me that many of their customers were saying the same thing, that they sent the payments and the Chrysler financial did not received their payments as well. next it was when my daughter's doctor mailed her very important prescription to the local pharmacy and they never received it either. now I send a register mail to my daughter in Boston and when I check the status on the USPS website, it says that by mistake my letter was misrouted. this was very important mail and that is why I send register mail, still, a problem. Can I trust the USPS now?

Post office workers stealing Christmas Gifts
Unfortunately, I was a first-time victim of stolen gifts this year. Several boxes I sent to different parts of the country arrived missing several items and had things replaced instead of the original hand-made/sentimental gifts I sent.

In one case a basil seedling plant was stolen and replaced with a blue book value on motorcycles and ATV’s… the gift was actually taped back up with this instead! Luckily my family thought this was fishy and called to ask me about it, otherwise I would never have known. This tipped me off to call and check on everything else and resulted in a very melancholy Christmas day as the amount of stolen items grew. (It was my first Christmas living away from home and it really added to the grief.)

It breaks my heart that you cannot trust the postal service. This had to happen here in LA because things were mailed to different locations. At this point it is only my word against theirs, but nothing was worth much retail value… just sentimental value, so I declined additional insurance when they asked. When I did so, the postal worker said, “Your loss” which I guess she meant! Considering I mailed everything way ahead of time and nothing was of much retail value, I thought this was a safe bet.

Since this is a federal fraud, the more instances they find of similar crimes will result in a greater punishment. Any attention you could possibly help me bring to this circumstance would be immensely appreciated, as I’m sure I was not the only victim.

It’s hard to imagine anyone could sleep at night after stealing gifts with only sentimental value, but I guess anything is possible during these hard economic times.

Damaged and missing mail
I would like for file a formal complaint. My family has had poor service the past few YEARS. We have tried to live with it since USPS just doesn't value its customer any longer.

In August, a sympathy card was sent from ELGIN, IL 60123 and delivered to us in SEPTEMBER. This is awful service. We have had payments delivered weeks and up to months after being sent via the postal service. We have reverted to FedEx for this and the much better customer service for our important deliveries.

As for cards and letters we are using email.

Today was the stresser for me. I received and anticipated newsletter that was ripped and shredded. The letter on the Envelope aske ME the RECIPIENT to better package my news letters that I plan on receiving.

This is absurd and ridiculous. The Postal Service has a responsibility to its customers. I will be contacting the Post Master General and the States Attourneys Office if service to and from our address does not get better. Our letter carrier is great but your lines people and employees at the postal offices and on the road need SERIOUS work in dealing with sensitive documents.

This is why I will decline to accept anymore increases in postal fees. I will pay higher rates you your competitor FedEx to ensure my deliveries are treated with a sence of urgency.

Postal Customer

P.S. This is posted to several complaint blogs and will find its way to our state and federal government.

rude, poor service
I take my post office business (and a lot of it) to the post office in Vernon Hills, Illinois where I have yet to be greeted by a pleasant, helpful, employee. I only use that office because I have a lot of items to ship (I am an ebay trading assistant.) and it is close to my home..
Today, I arrived at the office 15 minutes early and waited at the door for the employee to open it (exactly on time, not a second early even though there were 4 people standing behind me to enter.)
I had an express mail, prepaid envelope going to China, with all of the papers that only needed to be put in the special envelope and entered in the computer.
The employee JOANNE told me that I could go and she would enter it later as she wanted to take care of the people behind me in line. I asked her to please do it while I was standing there as I was worried that if she got busy, my parcel could get separated from its address papers. She insisted that I leave and she would do it later. I asked her again to please do it while I was standing there so I could get the receipt back. She got very annoyed and rude.
Does she work for no pay? I don't understand how a person who gets paid for their job has the nerve to be rude to customers.
I have had other dealings with women at that office who were also very rude. I don't think they should have those jobs whlle so many people are out of work and would love to have a job like that.
These people are lazy and rude and shouldn't have government jobs.
Sincerely
Arlene Marshack

Poor Management & Unreliable Service
We have been at the same address for over 60 years. I repeat, 60 years. A new Postmaster started recently and since then we have had a different carrier everyday and they can't seem to find where to leave the mail and, therefore, do not find our outgoing mail. When we call, the Postmaster is not available and we can't leave a message for her. When you go to the Post office, they say that she is at another location. The other location says that she is at the other location. Who is holding the Postmaster's accountable? Who do we contact? We should not have to fight to get our mail delivered or picked up. Can anyone help us?

supervisior of lapwai Post Office
Terri Scoot is the newest "HEAD" in our little post office and having given it a few months to get better, well it hasn't, so now is the time to write. Terri seems to be so disorganized, one day she could not remember how to open the safe, so nothing could be done for about 2 hours, one day she gave me a box full of my mail, saying I should pick up my mail more than every other day, only about 1/2 of that mail was mine, all little packs of mail with rubber bands, and only two of the packs were mine, when it was returned to the post office she was rude to the person returning it and said you had no business having this mail, well she gave it too me, she put it in my box herself. Terri seems frazzled much of the time, on edge and unsure of what she is doing.
Ours is a tiny post office, in a tiny reservation town, we all go to the post office several times a week, we know our postal crew and they have always been very careful not to gossip or talk too personal while sorting the mail, we can hear everything they are saying, we have been so impressed with the staff here, kind, helpful respectful of everyone, rich, poor, bright or slow, up on your luck, down on your luck, all treated the same, they know us, know our culture, they show respect to our elders when they come in. Now, our regulars are still great but they are kept mostly in the back away from the customers, now it is just Terri in the mornings and so we have to wait and wait to get service at the counter or to have our mail put out. Terri talks loud to people and kinda like gossip stuff, just on the edge, makes you wonder what she says about you when you leave the post office.
