Absence of priority by USPS in Priority Mail
Priority Mail isn't priority with USPS. After repeated mailings of boxes sent priority with USPS during the holidays the past 2 years, I ve found that boxes will sit in the point of shipment office for 48 or more hours before being shipped, delivery being after the appointed holiday, Christmas, being delivered on the 6th and 7th days...not 72 or even 96 hours after I present them at the counter of the main post office (which totes its packages directly to the airport only 2 miles away). I've been able to find this out by calling USPS Track and Confirm on the day before the holiday. Pretty sure USPS used to give you track and confirm info on which post office/post office receiving center it had gotten to. I can see why the post office now only gives you the delivery time and day of final delivery. That is not tracking!!! That is only confirming. What a hoax. You get all the tracking info from FedEx and UPS. What's more, I mailed from this same post office (in city of greater than 1 million population) this last week on Sat evening Dec 19 at 5:04 PM, (a box weighing 8 pounds, with size 8"x 8"x14") and paid $24 bucks for sending Priority Mail to the adjacent USPS region. After mailing it, I found I could have sent it by UPS or FedEx for around $14 plus nominal charge for track and confirm (a buck or so), with guarantee of 3 business days. What a sham the USPS has become with Priority Mail. Prices have escalated, size of boxes have decreased to so small that you can't send anything priority, in any reasonably sized box for less than $20 to $25 bucks!!! I just checked USPS track and confirm, here at 7 PM 12/23/09 and info shows the package was received at mailing counter at point of origin (here in Nashville) on 12/19 Sat nite. Means, still not received by the local post office where it is to be home delivered, meaning it won't be delivered by Christmas. What a farce!!! $24 bucks for 7 day delivery by USPS...now the rule, rather than the exception. Believe me...changing to UPS or FedEx is the only way to mail. 2010 Christmas on Sat, so, mail on Mon, guaranteed 3 day, with UPS or FedEx and package will be delivered BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!. You used to be great, USPS, but I won't be taken for a ride any more!!! Ron in Nashville

Horrible Service
I ordered a package from ebay, everything was going okay until the day it was delivered... i received an email saying that my package was scanned as delivered due to the delivery conformation, except for the fact that my package wasn't delivered... i went to the post office to see what the deal was but all they gave me was the number for the postmaster... when i called the postmaster he said that my normal post carrier scanned my package as delivered and that's all he could do... so essentially they said "screw you, we don't believe you"

Terrible experience
I went in to my local branch of the Post Office (a large station) in Charlotte, NC at about 10:30 AM in the morning, mailed some packages and then tendered a United States Postal money order for $155.00 to be cashed and was told that they did not have enough money in the cash drawers to cash it. That I had to return later in the day. Can you imagine the time wasted and the cost of gas today having to return at a later time?? This seems to be a standard practice with the US postal service, and very unfair to we Americans who have to comply with their unfair costs and practices.

I'll bet that if I wanted a money order for $155.00 and want to pay for it later in the day they would not give it to me.

Priority mail not delivered
I shipped a letter on on November 12, 2009 using a flat-rate Priority Mail envelope with delivery confirmation from Staten Island to WI. Today is 25 November. The last available information is that this letter left the facility in Jersey City, NJ on November 16. I made 4 complains so far to the USPS customer service. I wonder if this department is alive.
For the period of time May 2009 - November 2009 I sent five priority mail letters. On of them went to the destination in 18 days. This is the second time. Conclusion: USPS provides 40 % worst service. They only want a price increase which is always granted.
To complain from them to them does not make them accountable. This is wasting of time.
This procedure must be changed. You pay, they don't care, they will not return your money back because they have this rule.
Amazing.
Poor customer of USPS

Missing international package
My sister made a book for my birthday with messages from friends around the world. 4 months after mailing it as registered mail in the UK all that arrived here in the US was a portion of the packaging. USPS says it is the responsibility of the Royal Mail; they say it is USPS' responsibility as it clearly arrived in the US. Any ideas on how I can track it down? This package is of no value to anyone but me..

Horrible Customer Service
I went to Catalina Station Pasadena CA 91106 Post Office to mail a package to return an item to a retailer in UK. Clerk #31 served me, she weight my package and put labels on it. The retailer required me to ask a stamp from the post office in the counterfoil as a proof of posting, I dont know what it is for but I asked the clerk politely to stamp it for me.
She said she could stamp it for me for another $1.50. I asked is there any way for me to track the package? She said no unless I pay another $11 for tracking number. And then she offered me again to stamp it for $1.50, and I asked what stamp was it? And she said it was a meter. I asked what a meter is for. And she got impatient and she said she only had 2 minutes left before she closed the store (no one in line at the time, only me, her, and 3 other clerks). She got mad and started to take off and peel all the labels she put on my package and yelled "IM GONNA TAKE THESE OFF, YOU GET OUT OF HERE!" I asked her not to ruin my envelope, and she asked another clerk to peel those labels from my envelope. And I ask her if I can talk to the manager and she said in high tone "I AM THE MANAGER HERE, YOU GET OUT OF MY STORE!" I asked the other clerks what her name was because she didn't have her name tag on, no one gave me her name (I know her clerk number is 31 from a receipt of another package I sent right before this happened). She told me to get out of "her store" again and again. She said that a few times in an extremely rude tone until I left.
I've never been humiliated like this. this is the most horrible customer service experience I've ever had.

Didn't get mail
Imagine if you will; you're at a retailer's checkout and your Check card is denied...twice! Fortunatly, you have cash. Thinking there must be a problem with that retailer's card machine you proceed to the nearest ATM at your bank to make a cash withdrawal...denied agian. Called the 1-800 number on the back of the card and learned my bank had cancelled my cards becuase the new cards, sent out two weeks prior, were returned as undelieverable! Now I have lived here for 10 years and never had a problem like this before. Thank GOD they didn't fall into the wrong hands!
We average at least one mispitched mailing a week! No wonder the post office is going broke! I'm wondering when financial institutions will start using a more secure means of delivery?

Lost Mail
We have had a history of lost, incorrectly routed, and damaged mail for the last 8 years we have lived in La Palma. I would not recommend moving to this city because the mail is so bad. A check was sent to us two weeks ago from a local city and it never arrived. A package was sent to us two weeks ago from a city a couple hundred miles north of us and it never arrived. Both mailings were critical and now they are lost. I have made trips to the postal office and there seems to be no answer for the problem. I believe one problem is that they cannot keep the same postal worker on the route for any length of time. Who knows what's going on inside the office itself with that kind of turnover. So, don't move to La Palma if you are concerned about consistent quality postal service.

Rude and unprofessional workers
I am writing this email because of my Great concern of how Customer is being service in the post office 1435 Benning Dr. Columbus GA. Ive visited this location to send a package to my sister in California; there I was assisted by Dianne. She was not helpful all at. She refused to take my package because she said that it didnt meet the companys standard. I totally understand that company policy has to be followed but when I questioned her why she raised voice and relied rudely and said because youre trying to expand the box! out of me being confused I ask why did other workers accepted my packages that I DID NOT change my packaging method. She said is the way it is! Its company policy! I told her well if you are not going to help me then Ill just go elsewhere. I was surprised with her reply Well Im going to call other post office and let them know that youre coming! .I understand company policy BUT I dont understand why she was so rude to me. I told my sister what happened and she went in to ask the clerks for her name but clerk was not wearing any name tag and refuses to release her name. she ask the other working (ED) and there she found out her name was Dianne. What disturb my sister and that lead me into write this email was the fact that she was friendly other colored folks and when it comes into helping my sister she again raised her voice was very rude to her. The clerk also assumed without asking that she was the sister of the customer that she refuses to service. I believe that everyone should be serviced equally no matter what background theyre from. I could not believe that racism still being practice and brought to work. This clerks attitude was very unprofessional and it ruins company reputation.

Never delivers my parcels
It really sucks when you loose your your packages or have to constantly pick them up at the postal office because your lazy mail carrier doesn't feel like knocking at your door. And when they do come up to your door, instead of knocking they leave your package on the door, scan it confirmed, and before you know it someone steals your package but USPS says "It shows here you got your package!" when I didn't.

Once or twice I would have shrugged it off, of course I'm still mad. But it is everytime I order off the internet that this happens to me. I'll happily track the package online and when it finally gets to my area so I can wait at home for it, there's never a knock or anything. Once or twice I've actually found my parcel outside my door without me knowing it was there, and one time I had my parcel stolen yet when I called all I got was excuses. "It shows here it was delivered, " "Next time put a note, " etc.

I shouldn't HAVE to put a note. Those people know how to do their jobs, better than I could. Why isn't that our mail carriers don't knock? I bet if it was their packages they'd be furious just like I am right now.

My neighbors too have had their packages left outside their door, or worse, we have a fire extinguisher near the mailboxes and some of the carriers who come leave the parcels on top of the extinguisher rather than bothering to go up to peoples doors.

I've had the last straw when I was waiting for a package today and didn't receive anything when I went to go check my mailbox. I thought it hadn't come today because it wasn't even on my door, but when I went to go look online to track it, it says that they had missed me and that I needed to come pick it up at the postal office.

They never knocked.
They didn't even leave the "Oops, we missed you!" paper.
The mail came before noon but the website says they tried to deliver at 3:00 something PM. How do you explain that?

Next time I think I'll wait in front of my box with my arms crossed. That's obviously what they want, huh?

I hope I can pick up my package tomorrow without that paper. Hopefully having the confirmation number will help.

On a lighter note, the mail man we used to have before these irresponsible carriers never did this. Once he retired all of this started happening and I wonder how is USPS training their employees now?
