I've been with USAA since I was a young soldier. Paid my bills on time. Used them for home owners insurance, credit card, banking the whole deal. Suddenly when I fall on hard times they treat me like scum. Just like that after 12 years of being a faithful customer, I fall on hard times and they treat me like dirt.
It started off with being unemployed for 6 months. I paid them all I had in savings until the last 2 and a half months. I promised once I had employment I'd be right back on track. So, they know I don't have a job but my mailbox is flooded with threats of what they could do to my credit if I didn't pay. No phone calls just yet. Phone calls started just as I found a job and like I had said, I paid them, for seven months straight. Happy to be able to be back on track again and an upstanding paying customer again (whatever). Month 8 brought about medical bedrest.
And the loss of my job. I was devastated. So there I lay in bed 20 weeks pregnant with stitches in my cervix in an attempt to keep my baby in till I am full term...and the calls start. I explained to them my situation. I can barely walk just to use the bathroom. I'm dependent on friend's and family's charity just to make it each day (shelter, food, transportation to doctors..etc).
Do they care? NOPE. I get at least 2 to 3 phone calls from them every other day. They know I am physically unable to work. That I have NO way of getting them ANY money. But still they call. I've gotten to the point to where I tell them where to go when they call (if I have the energy). I even went so far as to tell them how disgusted I was with them for harassing me knowing full well I am temporarily disabled. And that once I was able to work again I wasn't going to give them a dime!
USAA does not care about the customer. They care about MONEY. I mean how hard would it be to lay over payments until I've delivered my baby? How hard would it be to help out a loyal customer who has been putting money in THEIR pockets for years?
To top it off I cancelled my insurance with them for my vehicle which I had to sell back to the dealer because I have no way of paying for it. Do you know they sent me a bill for the REST of the six months of the policy that I won't be using? WTF??
I'm disappointed and flabbergasted at USAA's behavior I cannot believe they still claim to care about the Military's soldiers and their families. I'm a veteran now and I would love to see USAA get back the garbage they've been dishing out.
SAY NO TO USAA!
