Bad service
We bought a Simmons top of the line mattress from Value City in 2007. Value city took the mattress back, after two visits to our house by a mattress inspector to make sure it was a warranty issue and issued us a credit for a new mattress. We went to the store to pick out another mattress in the same price range and it is worse than the first one. They will not take it back for us to pick out another. This is a $1500 mattress - which doesn't even include the box spring. Now we are stuck with something that we can't even sleep on.

Bad service
I bought a dinette set from them. Had to pick it up myself and pay to have it put together (3rd party cheaper than what V/C was charging). The set only lasted a week before the veneer rubbed off. V/C replaced with another set that I had to pay to have put together again even though they said they would have it put together.
On the second set, the veneer was already popping off around the sides of the table. I told them to come get the whole set and to take it off my charge.
Now, 2 months later, I am getting calls from the credit company because V/C never credited my account for the return. V/C won't even agree to pay the late fees for me not paying the 1st month charge, even though I had already returned the furniture by the time I got the 1st month's bill.

Don't buy
DO NOT BUY VALUE CITY FURNITURES. Had a bitter experience. I bought two sofas from them and one of them was defective. They promise me for change and but i have to hire a truck of my own (its thier policy, ok. but it was not my fault that the new sofa was defective. They didnt do a QA for thier products before they release for customers) and then when i get that exchanged and opened it at home, saw it was again defective and then i didnt call them again because i dont want to hire the truck again, because if this continues for few more times, my truck rental would aggregate to a price of new sofa from somewhere else.
To my understanding, they should do a proper quality check before they release to customers. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM VALUE CITY FURNITURES.

Bad service
I walked in the place, and had to search the place for any help. Employees were just leaning against the furniture, yawning and staring up at the ceiling. I found the couch I was going to buy, and I was ready.
When I finally got a lady's attention, i told her i needed her best price and she told me the price listed was the price it was going to be and told us we had to buy it today or no deal. she walked away. i asked a man for help writingthe furniture number down and he gave me a pen.
After i wrote the information down myself, i went to custumer service to place the order for my couch. there was nobody there for about 5 mins. when help finally arrived the woman checked the number that I had written and told me the couch would be ready for pickup in 2 days time. i handed her my credit card, signed the receipt, said THANK YOU (unnecessarily) and she responded with a mm hm... i understand that in some retail outlets you have to serve yourself, but in a furniture store, where you are spending a good amount of money, some level of service and at least a thank you should be expected.

Worst customer service
Try to get a hold of value city furniture? They have no customer service line!!! It ***!!! You have to already have an account to get a hold of anyone live? WTH? Worst place ever ever ever ever!! The stores are worse!!! What a broke down piece of trash!!! I applied for a credit card. I have excellent credit. They told me to call back to the store in two days. They gave me a customer service number in the mean time. If you don't already have an account it's worthless. You can't even get through at all. I called the store about ten minutes before closing like they told me to do. The Plainfield Indiana store by the way. They hung up on me while they where switching over to ask me questions and when I called back I couldn't get through. They manager was rude when I went in the first time although the sales person was nice. Stupid stupid stupid!!! Save yourself a hassle don't go to value city furniture!! They suck!!

Never delivered sofa that was paid for in cash
I purchased a sofa in March and paid cash for the sofa. I was told that it would be delivered April 24th. Received no call on the 24th but when checked after waiting for delivery that day I was told that there was no delivery scheduled. Went to the store and was told that it was someones mistake at the store and it would be delivered 5/8/2010. Leary about the service I called on 5/7/2010 to check on delivery and was told that the sofa was not scheduled for delivery and it would be May 20th before deliver. I cancelled my order and then was told I would have to wait one week to get my refund.

Beware and stay away
Well 2 months ago i buy furniture from then, and they said they will delivery en 20 day, so before that i donated my old ones like 5 day before the delivery date, well they call and cancel because they don't have every thing i order, so i will take an extra 10 day i said ok! but right before the new date they cancel again, and i said ok . this happen 2 more time after that day so i went there and spoked whit customer service and they said sorry bla bla bla come back tonight and will give you a new ones similar that you like it, so i went back later on with my wife and they said they don't have nothing for me so i waste my time again whit this people, so i said just give me the money and i never will buy any thing from this guys.

Misrepresented availability of furniture
Beware of Value City Furniture's Deceptive Practices
I found an accent chair with a matching ottoman at Value City Furniture and decided to order two sets. Even though the chairs and ottomans were on backorder, the store demanded payment in full and only gave me an approximate delivery date. Weeks went by, and every time I called to check on my order I received a different story, first "the chairs will be delivered in four weeks, one ottoman in another 4 weeks and the other two weeks later" then the next call "oh - you should have one ottoman in three weeks and we won't have any chairs for two months" once the store even called me to give me delivery dates, which of course passed without a phone call or furniture delivery.
After several more calls and being given ever changing delivery dates I went to the store and cancelled my order. After explaining to the cashier why I wanted a refund, she shook her head and was not the least bit surprised.
Frankly, I don't think they ever really intended to deliver the furniture, I think it was a stall tactic to use my money to either pay their bills or get the interest.

Bad customer service
A long story that I will summarize. Ordered a leather sofa and loveseat and told it would be delivered in two weeks. Got a call two weeks later saying they are delivering our black set but of course we ordered white. They delivered it but it was damaged. Since they only deliver during normal working hours we had to wait until the following Saturday (wasting the whole day since they only give you a 4 hr window the day before) then called that day to say sorry but the new one is more damaged that the old one. They then offered to attempt to repair the old one but since their repair hrs are the same as their delivery ones, once again the only time would be the following Saturday. We said no, just bring a new one BUT only if you promise to deliver it before 10:30 so we wouldn't waste a full third Saturday. They agreed but of cource two weeks later they forgot even though they had notes on the account stating the agreement. I said fine, I'm done, come get the junk. They said they would be there by 11:00- then called saying 11:30 then 12:30 then 1:30. So for the third Saturday we sit here wondering if they are showing up. Not sure if they are liers or simply incompetent but either way when we go shopping for the other items we are purchasing very soon such as the kitchen table, bedroom furniture etc. you can be sure we will not consider Value City. I'm sure our friends at work, in the neighborhood, and church feel the same after hearing our story and loss of about 15 hrs of our life.

Charge too much for delivery
I have purchased several pieces from Value City Furniture in the past. I had a couple problems with a few but they were quick to rectify it. This last trip to the showroom only made me change my mind in purchasing there now. All I wanted this time was one simle accent chair. Its under $100. Yet, they charge a delivery fee of $100 as well. What??? Thats absurd. It only told me one thing: I will never buy from them again. If they want to bring in new customers and keep the old, then get rid of the delivery charge. I will definitely go elsewhere where they dont charge a fee.
