Transmission
I didn’t use this Valvoline Instant oil change here but I used the one in Madison WI, 3594 E Washington Ave Madison WI 53704. They replaced my transmission fluid on my 2003 Mercedes C230. One week later my transmission went out. I reviewed the fluid that Valvoline used “Maxlife automatic Transmission Fluid” and my Mercedes dealer said that this fluid is “Not to be used in my transmission the 722.6 type. The owner manual also states not to use the Maxlife fluid also. I contacted the local Valvoline Instant oil change (608-244-3646) and they referred me to their insurance company.
After 1 month the insurance company refused my claim. They stated that they sent in the fluid (Maxlife and Mercedes fluids) to a Valvoline lab. They claim the Maxlife automatic transmission fluid is suitable for my now broken car. I have talked to 3 different Mercedes dealerships and each one knows about the exact same issue with Valvoline. I have presented Valvoline with all the documentation and they still refuse to correct the problems that they have caused.
Valvoline will not stand behind their work. I will never use Valvoline in any of my vehicles and recommend no one else does either. Their mistake is going to cost me over $6000. This is the last time I will trust Valvoline.

Doesn't Care About It's Customers
Took one of our vehicles to be serviced at Valvoline, Reidville Rd., Spartanburg SC. Pulled up in back and couldn't get the attention of anyone at the back of the store even after a very long wait, and I was the only customer on the lot.

Finally a young girl came up to the vehicle and said the compressor in the store was broke and suggested to come back the next day after 10:00 am. I told her no problem.

Returned the next day, again I was the only customer on the lot. Pulled to the back of the bay area and waited and waited and waited. There were no signs, no ropes, nothing to stop you from pulling in, so I carefully pulled into the bay.

At that point the manager finally came over and rudely fussed at me about pulling in and accused me of doing it before. I told him I could take mine and my wife's business elsewhere. He said "fine".

Called back a few days later to get owner or home office information and was told they couldn't give out that info. Finally, got the home office number from another Valvoline store, called and spoke to a nice lady that said she would be sure to have someone contact me. No one has ever called.

Obviously, they are making so much money at these stores they don't have to worry about one dissatisfied customer. There is two Valvoline stores on Reidville Rd. within a mile of each other. I was told by an employee the same company/person owns both stores in order to monopolize all the business on the road.

I wiil drive 30 miles to avoid these places in the future, if necessary.

Stay away
I had my tires rotated at Valvoline Instant Oil change store # 020007 on my Hyundai Santa Fe on 5/01/2010. The front of the car began to shake after I drove to Waldorf, Md on 5/9/2010. I had the car towed to a Peps Boy Auto shop, where the front passenger tire fell off the car and damaged the fender and bumper. Peps Boys found loose lug nuts on all the tires, three of the lug nuts on the front passenger tire had come off and the last two studs snapped off. Pep Boys replaced the studs and mounted the spare tire.

Valvoline now says the wheel falling off is not their fault and will not pay for the repairs to my car.

Fraudulent service

unprofessional work done
I had this company do several services on both of my vehicles. Both vehicles have had several oil changes done and all other fluids have been changed by Vavoline. After a few oil changes, once in awhile I noticed my oil level was down on my 1997 Crown Victoria. The last oil change that I had done in less then 3, 000 miles I had added 2 quarts. I decided to change my own oil and check things out with my son as a witness. When I checked out what was going on I found that my car has a full underneath panel that when removed was covered with oil. I also found oil on the oil filter and when I touched the oil filter it turned freely. Thus my oil filter was so loose I could turn it with one finger!
I also had both of my vehicles radiators flushed by Vavoline and prior to the flushing I never had to add any antifreeze. Since both flushes I have had to add antifreeze in both vehicles.
When I contacted my local Attorney Generals office and filed a complaint with them. Vavolines response was to blow them off and tell them tough basically. I want to warn All others that Valvoline does not backup the service that their Instant oil change service companies do. I used the top of the grade synthetic oil in each of my vehicles and my first request was for Vavoline to give me a 300, 000 mile warranty, you know the one they so proudly and prominently have on their jugs of oil and they refused. Thus, that speaks a whole lot about how much faith they have in their employees and the quality of the products they sell to the general public.

ENGINE BLEW IP
TOOK MY TRUCK TO VALVOLINE FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THEY SUGGESTED I NEEDED A FEW OTHER SERVICES, SO I SAID OK, THE NEXT DAY GOT UP TO GO TO WORK AND TRUCK WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND KEPY DYING, I WENT BACK TO VALVOLINE AND THEY SAID TO TAKE TO MIKE'S AUTOMOTIVE TO CHECK IT OUT, THE N THEY TOLD ME MY ENGINE BLEW A GASKET AND PISTON, THE MOTOR HAS BLEW UP, AND THEY SAID THEY PERFORMED ALL THE WORK CORRECTLY AND WILL PAY HALF OF THE COST TO REPLACE MOTOR TO A COST OF OVER FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS AND CAN' T SAY THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES, THEY DAMAGED MY TRUCK AND WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, I WILL NEVER USE VALVOLINE AGAIN, AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD, THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR 100 % GUARANTEE, THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY MY MOTOR MUST HAVE BLEW UP ON IT'S OWN OUT OF THE CLEAR BLUE SKY, WHICH IS ABSURD, I WILL KEEP FIGHTING FOR VALVOLINE TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBLITY FOR THEIR MISTAKE, THEY DID A FUEL INJECTION CLEANING AND SOMETHING HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK

Terminated without case
I was terminated as service center manager of the valvoline instant oil change in Henderson, KY. I worked for the company for almost 2 years and was manager for the last seven months. Valvoline terminated me for what they say was a procedure violation. But my Area manager promoted me to manager, gave me the keys to the store, and expected me to know everything without the proper training. i did the best i could then my store gets a visit fromm upper mgmt. who informed me they no longer needed me because i wasnt doing things right.

In my experience from working with valvoline they will try to sell you things you dont need, they will sell you services and not even do them.

every night when i would call in my daily sales numbers i would be threatened if they were not up to par. in my opinion you dont just start firing store managers if their supervisors are not performing the work duties they are obligated to such as training nd so on.

Substantial Overcharge Ripoff
When I arrived at the Valvoline Instant Oil Change I told the young man that I had never been there before and asked how much an old change was. He told me $37.99. After the oil change, I was presented with a bill for $49.99. Besides tax, there was a $10 additional charge for a premium oil filter for my Mazda 3 that I wasn't informed of or have ever encountered before whenever I use Jiffy Lube to change my oil. Jiffy Lube usually changes my oil for ~$35.99 total. I told the gentleman at Valvoline Instant Oil Change that they won't see me ever again. I recommend that people stay away from these Manassas guys with their hidden charges.

Fraud and scam
I went into a local Valvoline oil change station for an oil change. I had my own oil (synthetic) and car manufacturer's oil filter. I had my oil changed before at that station and others. I have only been charged $15.00 to cover labor. Upon completion, I was presented with a bill for $33.99. I was aghast. I had the bill rechecked on 2 different computers. As I watched, the entries for 'customer oil and filter' or regular were the same. The manager called someone, who stated that the computer is correct, even though it was clearly wrong. The bill lists $12 for labor and 16.99 for parts. I questioned them about the parts and Valvoline stated for use of equipment and shop supplies. I asked what equipment and shop supplies. I was contacted by a Valvoline representative who quoted me a different initial price ($36.00), less $6 for my oil and filter. The bill lists $33.99 less $5.00 for my parts. They are scamming people who don't know what is going on.

Bad service
My fianc©, Michael, went to Valvoline to get his oil changed at 449 Connecticut Ave. Norwalk, CT 06854 on Saturday June 28, 2008. After the technician was done with his oil change the technician had trouble closing his hood. He began fiddling with the latch with a screwdriver and spraying some grease on the latch to help close it. After he got the hood to close the technician said nothing about the car being unsafe to drive. Mike has never had any problems closing his hood.

Mike then left Valvoline and drove down the Merritt/Hutchinson parkway to Mamaroneck. When he got off the highway his hood flew open. Luckily, he did not hit anything and his windshield did not break. He pulled over and called AAA. Mike had to wait 3 1/2 hours for AAA to come tow his car back to Norwalk, CT. While Mike waited for AAA to come he called Valvoline and spoke to the Service Center Manager, Nick Nichols. He apologized for what happened and told Mike to get an estimate for the damages and bring it into the store.

On Monday I took Mikes car into two body shops and received two estimates for the damages. I drove over to Valvoline with the estimates. Nick Nichols was not there, so I spoke to whoever was in charge (I dont remember his name). I gave the man the two estimates and said, Here are the estimates I got, but I would be happy to go anywhere you would like to get Michaels car fixed. This supervisor got Nick on the phone to speak to me. Over the phone Nick said to me, I spoke to my supervisor, Todd Cooper, who said we are not responsible for what happened. If you have a problem with this, take it up with Todd.

I tried calling Todd Copper (1800-606-5823) at least six times with no response. The last time I called, the woman who answered the phone told Daisy, If Todd has not returned your phone call, he is not planning on it. The last message I left to Todd said I was filing a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection. As of July 17, 2008 Todd Cooper has not returned our phone calls.

Consumers should know that Valvoline does not take responsibility for closing your hood properly after an oil change. If Mike was on the highway when his hood flew open he could have been killed. If there is any more information you need please contact me at Daisykummer AT yahoo.com.
