Bad Instructor
First and for most don't misunderstand me, I went into the medical field to be a medical assistant because I love helping people. But after attending this school I am not so sure if I should continue in this field. I may not hit base on every subject or topic, but I shall do my best. Now lets get down to business and let me start at the beginning. I started on the 19th of October in the year of 2009 and I officially did my last extern day on the 16th of December of 2010. So I guess that you can say that I did 14 months total. On orientation night we all sat patiently and quietly waiting for the new instructor to walk in. Considering that this was a brand new school, we all could smell the newness of everything. We waited for about 15 minutes and in walked our overweight, black teacher. Now she talked to us and told us what to expect of not only her but the school as well. She appeared a bit apprehensive and cool at first, but later on she was not cool at all. She said what she had to say, other instructors and staff talked, and we went home. It lasted all of 2 hours. We started a week later on a Monday. She started out as being a cool instructor, someone that you could talk to, ya know a friendly person. Well, we all were wrong. First, she found out what she could about us and used it against us by talking down to us, screaming at grown adult women, and making us feel as if we couldn't accomplish anything at all. Second, she cursed us out and had favorites in her night class. Oh yeah, I was in the day class, by the way. She talked bad about us to the women in the night class until they wouldn't even socialize with us and they would turn their noses up at us. She would take off points if we did the littlest thing and would change her teaching ways just to set us up for failure. She would not teach us everything that we needed to know. She would come in everyday and talk about her family and about her problems. Hell, she even talked about how much sex that she was getting. Now that was taking it too far. Not only that, but she had very limited knowledge of medical assistant procedures. She talked about how we were nothing but ghetto project hoes, how we were never, ever going to reach our dreams, and that we might as well just give up. She wanted a lot of us to fail, but only a few dropped out. The majority of us passed. She talked about how we looked, smelled, and dressed. She went to a strip club, on business hours, with the females in the night class. We all told the managers on her but nothing was done about it. Now she works at the other campus, I think Berkley, in charge of strictly the externship sites. Not only that but the school in Fairview Heights, Illinois didn't have everything that we needed, especially not in the lab. We had to wait for weeks and sometimes even months for our books and other materials. It is a good thing that the school was free because they weren't yet approved of grants and loans. Bu bestides that, she made us feel like SHIT! There are so many people in our day class that don't even want to attend the graduation because of her and her bullshit. Many people even went to corporate but the only thing that was done is that she was talked to about her behavior. Now that didn't change anything, it only made her worse. I feel cheated, dazed and confused by these events. I feel like she should not be working for Vatterott College at all. She shouldn't even be allowed to work in the medical field at all. If you could see and hear what i did, you would feel the same way too. I am so freaking angry and shocked that Vatterott College would allow such a thing at their school. But what do you expect out of a second rate school?!

Lies, overcost, and more lies
I am a student at Vatterott College, the Oklahoma City campus. Where to begin?! They have yet to do a thing they said they would. I was told I'd learn everything I needed to know, that I would recieve excellent quality in education, and that I would recieve an externship. Sounded great so I enrolled. I'm currently in my 5th phase of 6 phases. After my 6th phase, I am to obtain my Medical Assisting Diploma. Good for me right? Wrong.
I'm about to have my diploma and I just recently found out that I will NOT learn how to draw blood, I will NOT recieve an externship, and the only way I will recieve these things is if I take out ANOTHER loan (a $10, 000 loan) and stay for an extra 3 phases (30 weeks) to get an Associates in Medical Assisting- not what they told me AT ALL. So, if I don't want to take out another loan(on top of the $20, 000 loan I took out for the first 6) I will be forced to go look for a job without an externship, and if I'm lucky enough to even get a job, THEY will have to teach me how to draw blood and all the other procedures I will need to do.
This school has completely ripped me off! In the meantime, I'm still here. Trying to make it to school everyday, and do all my work knowing it will get me nowhere. The only reason I feel obligated to obtain the useless diploma is because I paid 20 G! So might as well have SOMETHING to show for it.
90 hours of lecture time? More like 90 hours of Facebook time! Externship? Oh yeah, for an extra 10 G on top of the first 20.
This school is such a joke.
Sitting at Vatterott writing this complaint, and my teacher is sitting right next to me.
Yes, this school is a joke. I am DISGUSTED.
This is the worst mistake of my life.

ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT REFUSED TO GIVE ME AN ITEMIZED BILL
I attended this school from August 2, 2010 until August 16, 2010 and I submitted my letter on resignation on August 17, 2010 about 1:00pm. I was advised at that time that I should call the school back around the end of August to find out if I owe the school any money. I called the school at the end of August and I was told by a very rude person in accounting that my financial aid money was sent back to the lender and I owe the school $664.59 and that I would receive and itemized bill in the mail. I waited and waited but never received a anything in the mail regarding this money that I was told that I owed the school. I called the lender continuously and they said no refund was received from the school, so finally I called the accounting department again and left messages about the end of October and never received a call back. I called the finance department and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Mike Groos on November 4th 2010 and he sent me a copy of my ledger card which I didn't understand. The next week I received a letter from Diane Walton in the accounting department dated Nov10, 2010 at the North Park
Campus request payment of the $664.59. Next I called the lender again and now it shows that the funds have been returned. I received another letter from Diane Walton dated Nov 19, 2010 stating my account will soon be referred to collections and mark for "Final Inspection" and please be advised that this is my 2nd appeal for you to remit the outstanding balance or call me to discuss a payment plan. I called Diane Walton on Nov 29, 2010 and requested an itemized bill and she said they don't send out itemized bills. She then stated I can tell you what you owe. She told me that I owe $587.00 for my books and the rest is for partial tuition and uniform fees. I requested to speak with somone else and she put her supervisor on the phone and her name is Nancy Brown I asked again for an itemized bill and Ms Brown told me she just told you we don't provide that and you owe $664.59 for books, partial tuition and uniform fees. I asked her why am I paying for uniforms I have never seen or worn and she said because the school had to pay for them. I asked her were are the uniforms and she said at the school. I asked why can't they recycle the uniforms and she said no one can use these uniforms because they have my name on them, so they are just sitting at the school. I asked why am I paying $587.00 for 2 books and a 2gb flash drive that only cost a total of about 100.00 and she said well you had the option of purchasing your books elsewhere but since you didn't you have to pay what the school charges. I told her the books have never been used and neither has the flash drive and she had no response. I asked Ms Brown if there is a corporate office or someone over her that I can speak to and she said no. I told her that I will find someone else to help me and she said well do whatever you have to do.

Scam and lies
Look, to all who knocks this school. The one thing is ... you get what you put into it. This is not a 4year college. The education is training and only a stepping stone.
Yes, this school has no real education transfer credits to a college (Heck, I had one college tell me that my A.O.S. degree is only a piece of paper) and is a school for adults. So, for the people just out of high school. Go, to MWSU or go to Maryville.
The teachers are instructors only.
Save your money, if you are not in the current field of study or have a promise of a job, or your employer is paying for it. Don't go...
The training is of good quality. Some of the instructors are good, but the instructors that teach or read the book to the class only keep the students happy so to.. keep employment. The hard ones get sacked. Also, the placement person needs a real good attitude adjustment. If that person likes you well you know.
Beside, they will sign you name to a job placement either if it is real or not.
So, beward. If want real credit for your work then don't go here, but if you are a working person that needs a degree or training to get more money and they(employer is paying!!) this is the place.

poor education
Before I even graduated the codes for medical billing had changed and we never were given the oppertunity to take the course over to learn the new codes. They never helped me find a job after I graduated. The career counselor has called me SEVERAL times about job possibilities but never contacts me to let me know anything else. This is a very poor schooling for the amount of student loan I had to take out. Their loan lenders... that's another BAD parrt of this deal. I wasn't even late on my payment and omg, they called my phone 3 times a day, 5 days of the week. I am going to have to remove that part of my resume to even get any type of job. I feel this is UNFAIR to us as medical office students!!! The government needs to step in and take a good look around this college and the way it is doing their "graduates" !

Low Quality of Education
I went to this school from April of 2008 till May of 2009. And I must say, it is by far the worst decision I have ever made. Please, if you are intending on enrolling into Vatterott College's Computer Technology program think long and hard about your decision. Tuition is 23, 000 for the diploma (60 weeks) and 12, 000 extra for the degree program. Let me summarize what happened. In March 2008, I was interested in attending a school for a Computer Technology program with the belief that I would recieve an adequate education to allow me to find a good job in the computer tech world. So I went to Vatterott to see what their program offered. Now remember, being fresh into Computer Technolgy I was not aware of what most employers would require and whether or not Vatterott would give me the education to meet those requirements. But I thought that for 23, 000 they would give me a really good education. The lab fees themselves are $900. So based on the amount I was paying for the lab, I really thought It was going to be used.
When you arrive, an admission coordinator shows you a little presentation on his/her computer and gives you a tour around the school. Then they tell you that vatterott is "selective". I am assuming they tell you this to make you feel special about getting ripped off. They give you some little assessment to see how smart you are. I got 35 out of 50 right, when they accept as little as 12. The only reason I did not get the others right is because I ran out of time and never got to the other questions. They were simple questions, and judging by some of the other students in the class, they will pretty much accept anyone willing to shell out 23, 000 to the greedy Vatterott family.
The course is split into 6 10 week phases in which they try to cover material that in a regular college can barely be covered in a semester. 2 and a half months is not enough time to cover most of the material, but they try to accelerate the program for some stupid reason, so you end up with a worthless diploma and a subpar education. I am not saying the professors are that bad, they are pretty good actually. However there were times when the professors would just read out of the book and not really teach the material. I do not feel that was fair, since I could have read the book on my own for a much lower price and recieved the same education. In fact one professor had tuesdays and thursdays off and hired an adjunct professor to help on those days. In one phase, that adjunct professor did not have the knowledge of the subject that qualified him to teach it, and so half of that entire phase was wasted. Also, it seems that most jobs that can be found posted on the internet want you to know some programming language and the closest Vaterott gets to teaching any language is HTML. That is unacceptable. The labs were never covered very well by the professor, and I applied for a job last week, had an interview and was told that I did not have enough knowledge for the position. It was going to be either a tech or sales position. If after 60 weeks and 23, 000 dollars, I don't have enough knowledge for a low level job in a local computer repair shop then I feel that Vatterott owes me my money back. I feel justified in asking for a full refund, a cancellation of all loans and a return of all grant money. Since I don't believe they will refund my money, I know that what I can do is help others to not make the same mistake. So if you are hoping to attend Vatterott, please don't. Please research your chosen degree and see if a local college offers a better option for a lower price as they do in Springfield. That is the route I should have gone, but now looking back I wish I would have never stepped foot in Vatterott. I owe over 14, 000 in loans now, and if I can't find a good enough job, I will be in serious debt and probably unable to pay it off.

miss billing, hostile enviornment, break contract
i with drew from vatterott college after witnessing an altecation between an instuctor (steve horne) and a student. the instructor was verbally assulting the student and threw things around the room. this left us with out an instuctor. i left and informed steve that i would not be returning. vatterott had me come in cause they didn't want to lose another student, at the time i was having trouble with day care for my child so thry insisted that i sign a leave of absence, so i followed thier advise. i was contacted a while later and i told them that i wasn't returning. vatterott then sent a letter saying i owed them money and threatend to take further action if i didn't pay, i didn't understand where this had came from when i was told that i was completely coverd between my grants and loans. i had them send me a copy of the bill from begining to end and i feel that they had over charged from the contracted first year expence to the amount billed, i also feel that vatterott was in breach of contract by failing to provide an instructor for that period of time, and for allowing that kind of behavior.

Poor education, companies will not hire graduates
I graduated from Vatterott College's Computer Systems & Network Technology Associates Degree Program about 6 months ago. Vatterott DID NOT live up to their promises. Their promotional literature stated that the classes would cover setting up and deploying a network (OOPS); it didn't. We didn't set up even one server. The enrollment counselor said the material taught was advanced and highly technical; it wasn't. I was told the instructors were experienced in the fields that they taught; they weren't. The student handbook said that each ten week course would consist of at least 60 hours of lecture time; they didn't. In fact most classes included less than 25 hours of lecture time. The instructors basically just gave assignments right out of the book and told us to read the chapter and do the review questions at the end of the chapter, while the instructors would sit there and browse the internet and talk about their day. I'm sorry, but I could have just bought the books and got the same education as everyone else. I was the only one in my class who took the CCNA exam, which I didn't even come close to passing, because the book was outdated and the practice software that was given to us, which I studied for over 2 months and passed every practice exam with a 98% or higher was no help at all. I guarantee no one else even took the exam after they saw my results and saw how hard I tried. I was also assured a job in the computer/networking field, but now the only thing that they can offer me is telemarketing or over the phone sales jobs which I could have done without the education. I would never even think of doing telemarketing, it's just not me. I would not want to spend my day dealing with people hanging up on me or cursing me out. I basically wasted $34,000 to be a telemarketer and their excuse is "you have to start somewhere", and they also keep pushing these mock interviews on me. I took 90 weeks of so-called Gen. Ed. classes which was all about making resumes and interviewing. I keep telling them that I have applied to every computer shop and computer related company in town yet I can't even get an interview so it's not my interview skills and I was even told by their Career Services that my resume was perfect. I don't think the companies around here even hire Vatterott graduates unless they were previously employed in the field. I can't even get a job at the local Dollar General or Carsons Nurseries due to my education. After 6 months I still have no job and I have to start paying my student loans by next month. For $34,000 this is all they can do for me? I feel completely ripped off. I am even thinking of restarting my education with a more reputable institution such as OTC or SMS. But the problem with that is that no colleges will accept Vatterott's quarter credit hours, so I would have to redo my entire education if I went that route. The bottom line is that Vatterott College cost twenty times more than the community college, and it wasn't even worth the time I spent in the program.
