Dear Sir / Madam,

I was living with my family (wife and my 1 year old kid) at Block 687A, 14-396 Choa Chu Kang Crescent from 3rd Jun 2010 to 14th Aug 2010. I approached the house owner for the rental accommodation on the basis of internet advertisement given by him in eZlink classifieds (http://www.ezlinksingapore.com/) on late may 2010. House owner (Ram Prabhu) sublet the common room in his flat on the basis of the verbal agreement I had with him. The verbal agreement we had is to stay for 3 months.

As per verbal agreement made between us I paid $600 as advance and $600 as rent in each month beginning. I gave the IC copies to the owner for the HDB rental registration.

We were living with them Jun and July and the rental payment made to him as cash. When I paid the August month rent on 2nd of August, the house owner told I have to vacate by this month end, because his parents are going to come in the second week of September 2010. I agreed to it. I also agreed to vacate the house by this month end.

The house owner come up with an issue of high usage of PUB and the house owner and his wife were quarreled with my wife when I was not available at home on 13th August 2010 late night 10:30 pm. When I entered they were fighting with me as well. I told them if you feel the usage is because of my family I will pay the excess amount. Because, one more family is also living in the same flat. The house owner never listened to it, they shouted and quarreled and asked to vacate immediately in the mid night.

I told the house owner as agreed, I will be leaving by this month end.


The next day i.e. on 14th August 2010 evening we went outside, after locking our room. Suddenly the house owner has called me on my hand phone and said “all your things are outside you can go”. It was really shocking news for me, because he had touched all our belongings including our passports and all the valuables from the locked room without our knowledge. As I don’t know what am I going to do with my wife and small kid and where to look for accommodation in the night.

When I rushed home all my things were outside the house and I tried calling the house owner and rang the calling bell also. He never picked the call and he never opened the house.

I brought my baggages without knowing what to do further and I directly reached the Choa Chu Kang Police station and filed a complaint. Police has given me the report.

I still have the house key with me and he never returned the advance amount $600 and the remaining days rental amount (approx $300).

Kindly, provide your assistance for this issue and help us.

My obligation from you is this kind of ill treatment should not happen to other people/tenants from the house owner in the near future.
