I had cell service with West Virginia Wireless and had a contract with them. When they were bought out by Verizon, I could no longer receive any service at my address or anywhere near me. I had perfect cell service previously until Verizon took over and was using Alltel (I think) towers.
I went into the store and complained and talked to the manager of the store. He told me that since I had not chosen to go with Verizon and that they had changed my service and that it was within the 30 days they allow for you to cancel your service that I would be allowed to terminate my service.
I only had a month left on the contract. I was assured that I would not be charged an early fee and turned in my phones and went on my merry way.
Several months later Verizon started calling and sending me letters. I responded and explained what happened.
They even went so far as to call family members and discuss my so called debt (cancelled contract fee) with my family members.
Now I can not get a contract withany cell phone providers with out a substantial deposit because of this.
