Scam
There are some things that when they happen, you literally say WTF!!!
I got an email notice thanking me for ordering NBA league pass for $160 payable in 4 monthly installments. First WTF since I didn't order it
When I called and waited for 1 hour they tried and ALOT of trouble (30 min) cancelling the order.
Second WTF
Then they said I would get a credit but it would take up to 60 DAYS!
Third WTF
The next month, I see another charge for $40 for NBA league pass, along with my previous month's credit. Wait, that was suppose to be cancelled. Fourth WTF
After being on hold for 57 minutes, and 15 min to get my second credit, they tell me that I'll still have to call the next 2 months to get my other credits because they can't remove it from my billing. I can't get a direct number to someone to avoid the queue and I can't just send an email I have to actually SPEAK to someone.
Fifth WTF as well as the biggest WTF!
If the internet service wasn't so f#ckin fast, I would have dumped them years ago
Too bad they're so big that my rant isn't even a blip on the ass of a blip to them.

Their "new" plans
Beware. Verizon has new "HD" plans and although I just activated a new HD-DVR with them, we immediately lost several HD channels. 2 hours on the phone and one tech visit to the house later and it turns out they've modified their plans and although we 'should' and will soon get these channels back under our current plan, they have no short term solution to deliver the channels.
Long story short. AVOID changing anything with your current Verizon plan if it's working properly or suffer the consequences.
We were told not to feel alone with this problem. Verizon simply initiated their new 3 tier HD plan too early.
Hope this helps someone.

Channel Menu
Verizon Fios TV could be the best in every category of features if the company had any sense. But it lacks in three crucial areas -- 1) It's on screen channel menu really sucks compared to Dish and Direct TV satellite TV, and 2) It doesn't seem to offer as many HD channels as the satellite services -- I haven't counted the number, but it does seem that way, and others have said the same, and 3) They charge way too much for their HD DVR.
Unless they eliminate these glaring shortcomings, I will switch back to Dish Network for my TV when the year is up. Their Fios Internet service, however, is unmatched.

They shut me off over $100
OK- so everyone knows by now that Verizon's billing system is a total nightmare. I had moved from Comcast to verizon (as did everyone in my neighborhood) because we were all offered sweet deals for the first year.
After that year was up, so were the deals and it ended up being more expensive than comcast.
I was paying for 20/5 internet and on a GOOD NIGHT only got 6 down. My land line phone (which we only used 1-2 times per month)was $70.
Long story short, I canceled my Internet & Landline Phone service leaving my FIOS TV and my cell.
Yesterday, My TV service was suspended because my bill was past due by not even 1 month. The total bill was $176.43 and is currently due next week (July 7). After about 2.5 hours of my time and 6 people later, they informed me that i was shut off for $102. Yes- you indeed read that correctly - One Hundred Two Dollars.
So, I have since canceled all verizon services and welcomed comcast back into my home (theyre almost just as bad).

Poor Service & Program Guide
FIOS lack of service is crazy. I called in to their service center and told them I wanted to make a complaint. I was told they did not have a complaint call center. I would have to send a "letter" them them via the US mail. I did send a 2 page letter to them, but never heard anything from them.
Their on-screen programing has to be set up by a idiot. It does not make since, it is hard to read and so slow that it is almost worth it to rent a movie than to try to watch their on-demand programming. The "favorite" feature hardly works. It adds channels that are not favorites and removes channels that are. You can re-program it and it still messes up.
We were told that the screen wouldn't ever freeze and it does. We were told that they wouldn't rearrange the channels and they have done so at least twice within 18 months. This last time they moved several HD channels to a new level that you have to pay for. Along with paying extra for the HD box you have to pay extra for some of the HD channels.
When the time comes we might just make a change to another service. They might be just as bad but I don't think that I need to spend my money on Fios anymore.

Damage to TV
My verizon cable box and DVR locked up on several occasions over a few months- I would always call tech support and they would get me up and running remotely- no prob. The last time my box locked up Verizon had to send a tech out to fix the problem. The Tech confirmed the box was bad and in the process of breaking the box burned my HD port on my TV out. He stated it would be hard to get Verizon to pay but he had seen it happen before- the tech stated the box definitely burned my HD port out. The tech tested my TV and several boxes to confirm the original box and my HD port were bad.
The tech was correct- Verizon refused to pay to fix my tv and stated the tech never told me that the Verizon box burned my HD port out. Verizon said they had documentation from the tech that my tv's HD port didn't work and that the box when tested was fine.
The Verizon customer agent told me my tv burned the box out, that I would still get HD quality without use of the HD port- lye. I tried cancelling service 4 times and this particular retention specialist totally coerced me into staying. I can't believe verizon is so deceptive and minipulative. I just want my tv fixed so I can watch HD.
Im embarrassed that I let verizon keep me as a customer- they are very sorry and will say anything to keep the business.
I was told many lies about service packages for internet, tv and phone and spent over 7 hrs of my life in the verizon phone que. Verizon sucks- I don't understand why they cant just be honest. Don't they realize that treating people right will only prosper the Verizon company.

new channels
Lots of hoopla about additional HD channels but, to get them Verizon had to invent a new upgrade package. I already pay for a Premier package and a sports tier and it has some HD versions of the channels included. Now they want me to pay more for the newly added HD versions of the same channels. I pay for Speed tv already but they want me to pay for the new package to get the new Speed HD tv . No way.

Can't Get The Digital Adapters
Verizon converted their FIOS cable TV to all digital a month ago. We need digital adapters to get their cable tv on the tv's without a set top box. They offered the adapters for free and we ordered them 2 months before the conversion. Since the 1st order we have ordered them 3 more times and have not yet received the adapters. The order keeps "disappearing". The problem seems to stem from the fact that we don't have a phone line through them. I am about ready to go back to Brighthouse!

SERVICE
VREIZON ERRONEOUSLY DISCONNECTED MY HBO SERVICE ON 5/3. HERE I AM AT 9PM ON 5/9 AND STILL NO SERVICE DESOITE REPEATED PHONE CALLS AND HOURS - AND I DO MEAN HOURS - CALLING, BEING TRANSFERRED, DISCONNECTED, PROMISED SERVICE...THE LAST TECHIE TOLD ME TO RESUBSCRIBE VIA MY TV EVEN THOUGH MY ACCOUNT SHOWS THAT I DO HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION MEANING I WOULD GET CHARGED TWICE!! DON'Y WORRY HE SAYS - BILLING WILL TAKE CARE OF IT...WHY WOULD I ACCEPT THAT? IF VERIZON CAN'T CORRECT THIS WHY ON EARTH WOULD I EXPECT THEM TO CORRECT MY BILL!!! FRUSTRATION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!! AND OF COURSE THERE IS NO WAY TO LODGE A COMPLAINT. I REALLY LIKE THE PRODUCT BUT IT LOOKS LIKE VERIZON DOESN'T WANT ME AS A CUSTOMER.

Not What I Expected After all the Hype
I switched from Comcast to Verizon in December 2007. The install was easy and painless and the technicians were here when promised. The main reason I went with Comcast was the difference in price - much lower than Comcast for the phone, internet and TV. I also liked the "Free TV" offer, even if it is only a 19 incher - it will be fine for my computer. However, it is now 5 months since the date of installation and no TV and also a very poor selection of HD channels. Comcast has them beat in this area - I am currently watching the Stanley Cup playoffs on Versus, which is NOT available in HD on Verizon. I also agree with the other complaints posted regarding customer service. It is non-existant on the weekends. God Forbid you lose your internet or cable on a Saturday - you're out of luck. If I had it to do over again, I would have stayed with Comcast and accepted the deal they finally offered me after they learned I was leaving. Do your research if you are considering the Verizon television service. They seem to be overwhelmed and not prepared to handle their existing customers, let alone new ones.
