This is a copy of the letter I wrote to the state attorney general:

Dear Ms. Sheeler:
Thank you for your correspondence concerning Vestavia Family Dentistry and the suggestion that I retain the services of an attorney to take him and two of his staff members to court. I do not deny and nor have I ever denied I signed the papers, so he can send everyone as many copies of the documents he wants; it does not change the fact that they misrepresented themselves to me, and I used their services which were based on a lie. I have the phone records that show I spoke to them more than once; based on the number of minutes made to their main phone line. I cannot attest to have many other times I talked to the secretary when she called me on an additional company line. I did in fact retain an attorney. He advised me that although what they did is highly unethical, it is not illegal. The fact they did not tell me they were not in network and allowed me to walk out without asking for payment, seems to justify their attempt to defraud me. This will be my claim in small claims court. I have reported them to the Office of Dental Examiners; they say this is not within their jurisdiction. I reported them to the BBB, and they said that this is not in THEIR jurisdiction, but at least Vestavia Family Dentistry is on their website with a claim against them. I have written reviews on every website I can find, including Angie’s List, and have rated them with a ‘1’ if there is a scale, and I clarify by stating there is no ‘0’ as an option. I have printed fliers for my neighbors, or have talked to them in person. I have talked to people in my Sunday school class; and that’s a lot of people. I want my money back.
To give you an idea of the type of person this man is, I wrote him a letter. I did not put a return address on the envelope. He opened it, read it and taped it up; printed a label with my name and address. I still have the letter, unopened, and have notified the Postmaster General of his defrauding of the government. I guess the $222 ($327.25 after all was said and done) was really important to him, considering he couldn’t pay 43 cents for a stamp. A clue should have been signs along the road offering ½ off services.
He did a panoramic x-ray of my teeth and said they look ‘fine’. Their reasoning for the x-ray was that it gives a better picture of my teeth. Interesting, because I even told him I had a crack in one of my teeth on the left side, and thank God he ignored me. If you look at my information sheet it says I had a dentist. My former dentist has records that back up this claim, and my current dentist knows it, too. Pruitt claims to have had no complaints in 15 years, and over 10, 000 patients (either his office manager wrote this or he writes like a girl). My response is, “So what?” I don’t care if he has seen the President of the United States; I only care about what he did to me. And, I am assuming he thinks you would be impressed, and I doubt you are going to ask him to produce a patient list. When I was there, I only saw one other person, so they must be coming in the middle of the night. My dentist finds this amusing, as she said it would have been smarter to let it go, but he has decided to be in a peeing match with me. He has cost me $327.25 plus dues to Angie’s list; I have cost him embarrassment and potential patients (there is no way to prove a negative, unfortunately), since everyone surfs the internet, grocery shops and rides in their cars up and down Columbiana Road and Highway 31, and I don’t intend to stop. And, everyone goes on YouTube.
I am also writing all of the state representatives, since I am very political and not only a teacher, but also a businesswoman in Alabama, about legislation to stop doctors and dentists from not divulging information as to their status with the patient’s insurance, and this is a question I have for every person running for office and I have posted on their websites Vestavia Family Dentistry and what they did to me. I hope to make G. Robin Pruitt the poster child for this action.
